How to run regularly

regular 9 hours ago

I have been doing this six days a week and am totally hooked on it, I love it, i am doing 6+ km in one stretch and love the feeling, though the heat in dubai is giving me a depression, it makes one sweat more than usual. Running in the mornings or evening is almost impossible, the only possible time for running in Dubai is are the late evenings with enough wind whispering in my ear, I enjoy it, keeps me fit, helps me digest my food properly, burns extra callories, doesn’t make me fat, has kept me toned.
Sticking to the routine is very hard, one has to realize the importance of giving this task an hour for the actual run and atleast twenty minutes for stretches and muscle isolations. Anyway, i still don’t think i have achieved a great milestone here, the challenge is to outrun a friend who has also been keeping this running routine. Although my swimming stamina has increased alot. goodluck everyone else who is also doing this.

Decided to give this up for now as I am not doing half marathon soon but still exercising regularly. Found this becoming more of a chore and less enjoyable- no point to it then. Will keep running but for fun when I fancy it not because I feel pressure to do it.

Woke up this morning at 6:30, and hit the streets. It wasn’t so bad and I hope to do this almost every morning.

I’m ready for this one. I’m going to start an updated morning routine that factors in 15 minutes of running and cycling, with my 30 minutes of swimming. If I can keep it up, then I will satisfy this goal and put me well on my way to reaching another (compete in a triathlon). As always, wish me luck!

Get back on that wagon.... 6 months ago

I always hated running but I made the goal this summer to run a 5k so that I could say I ran a 5k before I turned 30. Well, I did that (HOORAY!) and then winter came and I stopped running. I noticed that I felt better, got sick less, and was finally losing weight again while I was running and I really did enjoy it so I want to start again. Okay, that’s not entirely true. I hurt my hip and then got busy helping with the election and THEN winter came and by then I had fallen off the wagon and could no longer even see it ahead of me on the path.

I feel bad about falling off the wagon and now I want to get back on it. I don’t like running on a treadmill but with winter in Iowa and all of the snow/ice/awfulness that comes with it I’m going to have to suck it up and run indoors if it kills me. I’m a weenie in the cold so a treadmill is really my best option!

I had a great group of people cheering me on for the 5k and I feel like I’ve let them down by stopping. I’m going to make myself and my friends proud by getting back on it. And as an added bonus, it should help with my weight loss goal!

keeping on track 7 months ago

The race yesterday went well and today I met up with a friend and did about 3 miles. If I can just make time for it two or three days a week, I’ll be doing great. My legs are sore as hell right now, but that doesn’t seem all that bad. Also, I’m planning on doing a 3k fun run around Christmas time. I hope I can keep up the training.

5k progress 7 months ago

I ran a 5k last week and I have another one tomorrow. I also picked up some information on a 3k in December and another 5k in February. My time for last weeks 5k was about 27.5 minutes and I’m hoping to lower that on this upcoming race. I was happy to see that my time hadn’t changed very much, however, I still want to get it under 25 minutes and run more during the week. That’s the goal, wish me luck!

It's always worth it. 7 months ago

I’ve never been able to run consistently. I mean I can physically, but I just don’t make it past a month. In a month’s time there are so many ways to be distracted from running… And now it’s the cold, cold weather. I made myself go out today- but I walked 4 miles instead. Better than nothing, right?

I want to start running again. Nothing to crazy, just two or three times a week, with an overall goal of maintaining about 25 minutes for 5k’s. I miss it and look forward to starting!
