Big investment, but the rewards are great 2 years ago

The initial cost to get started is not small. I got a type cabinet, a Kelsey Star and a bunch of fonts. Now, I am taking a class at the Minnesota Center For Book Arts (to the tune of almost $300).

I haven’t yet pressed a thing (I haven’t ordered my paper from Crane or my paint) but I know I will.

at the Department store... 2 years ago

I saw a young guy doing this with the stationery – I wished I spoke German so I would look less like a creepy stalker as I watched him. Germans love having artisians work in their department stores during the holidays – they have people painting ornaments etc.

I also saw some people selling letterpress blocks at the Tollwood Festival. They were promoting them as wax seals and had some quite elaborate designs.

Now I just need to learn more about where I can study book arts in Germany or get my hands on one of these bad boys.

new goal: get around to using letterpress 3 years ago

i got my new (old) letterpress about three weeks ago, and havent hardly had time to even play around with it yet.
but i am excited that i have it, nonetheless.
as my first project i am hoping to complete a letterpress zine.
