I applied to a couple non-profit organizations that need help with animals.
After waiting patiently for about 2 weeks, I received a mail saying they have vacancy for a volunteer. :) I have my orientation this Monday and I will be playing with puppies and dogs and take them for a walk. I have committed myself to a minimum of 9 hrs per month. I love animals and this will be so much fun. Can’t wait for Monday…

PerfectSonnet is now bringing it
I’ve been volunteering at a local shelter and I really enjoy it! I administer medication to the sick cats, dogs, rabbits, and even Guinea pigs sometimes ha! It gives me experience and confidence too! I’d love to volunteer with wildlife sometime!
megumi is.
Decided to volunteer with a land preservation group to help keep at least some land from being developed so animals (and people) have a place to be in nature. Almost chickened out because I am really attached to my free time, but I came through in the end. Whew, that was close. Hope I make some good new friends.

I went to volunteer orientation for the local wildlife rehabilitation center today. Now I just have to get in touch with the admin coordinator.
I volunteer for an organization called PAWS which offers resources to help low-income people with HIV and other illnesses keep their pets. We have a food bank (which I help staff 1x a month), transport services (in which volunteers take pets to vets and other appointments),dog walking, foster care (when clients are hospitalized), and other opportunities.
The joy I get from simply taking a dog to a routine vet appt. when his owner is too ill to do so or fromputting a special treat in a clients’ weekly cat chow delivery is beyond measure.
I encourage you wholeheartedly to pursue this goal!
Animal rescue league sign up – neas – if i cant contrib financially at this time, maybe I can do an afternoon every now and then.
This is something I wanted to do for a long time, and thanks to some nudging by a fellow 43thinger, I am doing it. Its my way of giving back. We adopted our beautiful Sparkles from a shelter in Hawaii, she is set on having a one dog household, she is spoiled rotten, and so, since we can’t adopt another dog now, this is how I’m saying thank you and helping out.
If you are in Seattle, the Seattle Animal Shelter has lots of cool programs you can participate in.
Just when I was feeling sort of lost on this goal…florafauna inspired me to walk dogs at my local shelter. I’m attending the next orientation. This should be a lot of fun!
