How I did it: I learned pottery in college, taking 2 classes in 2 semesters, it was really fun and addicting. I learned both hand-building and throwing. I kept coming to studio to work on the class projects and also work on my own stuff, experimented with shapes, glaze.
and I gave away some of my work to my friends and they liked them.
i can't wait to start again :)

We made two things – a pot and a dish.
My first pot turned into a plate but the teacher gave me some more clay – it was very interesting.

Mine were a bit old fashioned, suppose cos I am old but a young indian lady made a lovely square plate with 4 maltesa ball on it
and my daughter made a lovely pot and pretty bowl
It was nice to do the class together.
She is very taltented.

This art school has been an arts & crafts oasis in the midst of all the cheap, tacky tourist shops. It has been in Gatlinburg for 96 YEARS! And now an offer has been made and the Pi Phi group is considereing to sell. That just makes me sick! I will be among the protesters. I still have a pottery class to take!

Although I wouldn’t place this at the top of my list it is something I would like to learn someday. There is a great little art school (Arrowmont) not far from where I live. Hopefully, one day soon, I can take some classes.
