Recently, I showed my portfolio to a hack. I dunno, I guess I was wanting some sort of confirmation that my stuff was good enough. Anyway, I showed it to her during a designer’s critique at a journalism conference for community college in L.A.
Her reaction was sort of “umm … what am I going to say?” ... She seemed to me like she was a piano instructor who was merely one step ahead of her students. Sorry, but the experience really riled me up.
It’s honestly one of the reasons that I haven’t applied to grad school yet… it’s really hard to take good photographs of your work, there’s like, a science to it. this week I will borrow a dig. camera (mine broke) and take relatively decent pics of my work, and get a website. this can only help my grad school quest, right?
So I went to Art Supply Warehouse and invested in some damn good portfolios. One of them was big enough to fit my newspaper pages. Finally, they have a display system. Now I have to organize them. Why does it feel that I never have enough works?
