I had already spent a good deal of time starting this together a couple of years ago, though abandoned it because the medium was still in its infancy and, frankly, there weren’t a lot of podcasters in the Indianapolis area. Just five in fact. Six months later, there seemed to be a growing movement, yet another local podcaster, John Blue (Truffle Media), had sort of beat me to the bunch by putting together a Meetup.com group. At that point, I deferred to him as the champion for organizing our little underground movement.
Last week, two solutions come together almost simultaneously: 1) The Meetup group was disbanded due to a year of inactivity, which opened the door for me to make a move without stepping on John’s toes; and 2) Because I have been very busy with PAYING side gigs lately, I’ve had to sort of shortcut a few of my own projects (namely http://www.iu-teke.org and http://www.indydivorcesupport.com) by just setting them up as canned sites with ning-powered back-ends. After exploring all of the capabilities that ning has to offer, I decided that, if I wrote just a couple of quick applets (namely a refined version of my RSS masher) and a couple of other little bells and whistles I wanted to offer up, and the site would be 90% of what I wanted. (We won’t talk about my opinions of the limitations and aesthetic appeal of ning layouts).
So, essentially, two quick hours of CSS work et viola: http://www.indypodcasters.com is born again.
Now if I could only drum up some interest.
