Making a project of it. 2 months ago

Eating has always been the one major impediment to me getting in really good shape. I grew up in a household where my father, who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in his mid-40s, wasn’t in the least bit health-conscious, and indulged my junk food urges from a very early age, and as a result I’ve come to the ripe old age of 21 with a lot of bad habits. For the last three years, I’ve gotten much more committed to exercise than I ever was in my entire life, and it’s been great! But I have slowly come to the conclusion that I’m never going to be as healthy as I want to be if I don’t learn to eat better than I have.

So far I’ve done a lot of research on vitamins, local and sustainably grown food, ingredients to avoid on labels, and on some good cookbooks so I can start being much more conscious of what I put in my body day-to-day. My boyfriend’s even volunteering to help me buy cooking utensils! I think this is going to be a lot of fun; my main goal in this is not so much to lose weight (it’d be nice!!), but to (a) improve my body’s performance in physical activities I enjoy and (b) take a proactive role in preventing diseases I could get later on.

Diets are silly, they make you feel deprived.

Something i’ve found interesting to read..
Sign up for the e-zine on this guy’s site > http://www.formerfatguy.com/ < it’s not one of those get thin quick pdfs for only 9.99 it’s free and it’s full of stuff that helped me out, even though it’s mostly common sense people tend to overlook most of those things.

Here’s hoping to a healthier 2009 for me and all of you. :)

I would really like to learn to eat healthier.

All about choices 2 years ago

When faced with different food options i go for the healthier looking one. But even when i go without eating, or eat the right amounts, etc. i find it difficult to lose weight and keep a healthy nutrition. I think i dont know how to combine foods properly and also, portion control. What should be eating? when? and how much? I am 5.9” and weight 170lb. My goal is to lose 25lbs by Christmas 08 and finally i have found the motivation to achieve my goal. Would love to get some advise from people who are having success in portion control and food combinations.

I'm doing this! 3 years ago

The book “God’s Diet” by Dr. Dorothy Gault-McNemee is changing my life! I’m not completely there yet, but I have eaten healthier this past month than I ever have in my whole life, simply by following the principles in this book. I have never stuck to a plan or diet (which this book does not promote) for more than a week in my life! It’s amazing…eventually, I think this will help me do my weight loss “thing”, too! Remember: If God didn’t make it, don’t eat it!
