As a first time filmmaker, it’s probably a good idea to start small. I’ve crewed two short films so far (as an art director/production designer), and they’re an awful lot of work!
The most efficient way to do this, time and career-wise, is probably to hammer out a really sharp script, and move into long form (where most of my ideas sit anyways).
Although maybe I should look into more music videos.

It’s good to know that anyone can make a film today and post it on the internet even if it is complete crap. This means I may have hope one day. I have many ideas for films. I hope one day I get to use them.

The goal is to write, design, and direct my own film. Maybe start short and work up to feature length—the restrictions of short film would definitely train me to plot properly.
Choice between live action and animation? Animation would afford me more control, but possibly limit subject matter.
How do I find actors?
Thinking about one of the old blog entries…

It would rock to full animate a short film. Stuff like at Spike and Mike’s film festival is just so ace, I’d love to be one of those one day.
