Gorneval Making a lot of ripples in following the flow
Finally, things seem to progress.
I bought a domain name (www.forgeslandry.com), I worked on my website, on my pictures, tracked back old realizations and worked on two design… and I’m thinking about a third one.
I can almost declare this goal done, but I will wait ‘till the first design is fully operational. After that, it will only be a matter of look!
I still have lot to learn. I think I know much about XHTML, but I want to go further. I’m learning PHP, and I’m starting Java and MySQL soon. I think I’ll then have most of the needed tools!

I think it’s my problem: I tend to depend on things. As my web host is moving is database, my FTP address is unreachable. I stopped working on the website because of that… but I realized that I have still so much work to do, and the upload itself is not even so useful… so I have to get back to work!
Next step after the design: Buy a domain and a real host/server to become more professional.

Gorneval Making a lot of ripples in following the flow
I realized that the program I used to build website (Dreamweaver mx2004) was out of date… more than I thought!
In fact, since my last website, the company has been bought by someone else, the program has been completely changed, and the language it used it revoked, unusable on the actual web. Wow!
So I learned the new language, I downloaded the newest version of the program (has I really like it and it’s really good) and I started to make a whole new design, whit the previous help of my friend. But as I’m taking back the beet, my host as also been bought and they’re moving their ownership and server… so for a week, their FTP clients are unreachable. As I work in XHTML, I can still work on my website, but I can’t take a look at it! All I have is a white page whit code on it… now really attractive ;).
So I’ll have to wait a little. But I’m back in the race!

Oups!
I realized why I had so much trouble with my website:
All I had learn when I was younger as changed!
I used to program using HTML basis, but the web langage has changed to XHTML. So I had to learn back a few things before getting started. But I know think I’m ready!
my work is here:

Gorneval Making a lot of ripples in following the flow
I already built many website, but none were very interesting, nor very professional. But this time, I want to make something more profound, something I’ll work on and something I’ll be proud to show to anyone. As I said in some other entries, I am doing some blacksmithing work and I try to sell some to other customers than my friends. And to do that, I need a real website.
I already know some HTML basis (as I prefer to work directly with the source rather than with a easy-builder program), and my experimentations with my previous website help me, but it’s not enough.
So, am learning more by reading a good french forum (lesiteduzero), which is in fact an online class on programming (for programs and website).
My friend is also using her creative side to make me a whole new design.

Wow, finally!
All things are possible, if we try hard enough!
Not only have I built a site, I have built it myself and got assigned the first job of building for a friend for some money.
Had no technical knowledge prior.

I’ve only been planning this for about 4 years. I am so indecisive though; compounded by being a perfectionist makes it difficult to even get a good start.
I’ve decided on a business name finally though; so maybe things’ll become a bit easier to decide on.
I’m hoping to have it going by the end of the year. We’ll see if time permits… along with the aforementioned issues.
