Quest for Folly is not an island...or a man.
It turns out that 100 things is quite a lot. (I’d settle for 20.) And then, to partake in one of them every day? Impossible. I simply can’t do this goal. I’m not equipped.

Lilacs are in bloom here, and the whole city seems to smell like flowers! So #14 was my item for yesterday.
This used to be “List 100 things that make me happy,” which is great—but listing things that make me happy and then making a concerted effort to have more of those things in my daily life, now that’s useful!
Here are the first 11:
1. Sex, solo or with others
2. Making a great meal
3. Reading a great book
4. Having a great workout
5. Spending quality time with my cat
6. Going to see live performance (dance, theater, music, burlesque… anything!)
7. Going to see art shows
8. Working in the yard on a nice day
9. Dancing
10. Climbing
11. Flirting
Hmm, but even doing one of these activities each day will not guarantee my happiness—I mean, it has to be a great meal, a great book, a great workout. Not every meal really blows my skirt up. And I am perfectly capable of doing any of these things without enjoying them. Rushing, just to check them off my to-do list. I guess that’s where my “Live in the moment” goal comes in handy.
A few days ago I was laying in bed reading a book that didn’t really grab me, thinking, “this story (about Bangladeshi immigrants in England) would be really great—if only there were more spaceships in it!” So I put that book down, went to my bookshelf, and found a science fiction book I’ve been wanting to read. Three cheers for knowing what I really want and taking steps to make it happen!
P.S. Note that I saved all my old entries from before I changed the name of this goal, but I am starting my count over from 1, because not all those entries I made before are things I can do each day.
Lots of people are cringing at every sign of the change of seasons, but I love it. It makes me so happy to hear the wind rustling the dry leaves in the trees, to walk through fallen leaves. And how can I forget the amazing colors. I enjoy cool overcast days, and the thought of the upcoming snow just makes me imagine cozying up inside with a nice book and some hot tea. Ahhhhhhh.
While I am a creature of the sun and warmth and light and activity, I enjoy and look forward to the flip side with equal vigor. The moon, and cool, dark silence.
Trembling, bumbling bundles of fur and tongue. Aww!
I got some today out walking on my lunch break.
And don’t try to tell me you bought the album and you listen to it at home all the time, whenever you want to. Hearing it on the radio when you least expect it is better.
It’s enough to make ya feel like the whole universe is conspiring to please you and shower you with blessings!
