driving 14 months ago

I’m so glad I was able to start driving again. My parents got me a cheap second-hand car to bring to school and it really helped, out of necessity. I started short and slow and built up from the bottom, and now I feel comfortable driving day or night, rain or shine. It’s been very convenient, too; I no longer have to rely on other people for rides all the time. All in all, a great goal.

scary 17 months ago

Im slightly terrified to drve again. I havent in months because the last time I drove I crashed. It was nothing major but it was enough to scare me.

Well, it took me a long time 19 months ago

But I did this! Now I drive everywhere, which I guess is maybe not something to be proud of, but I’m glad to have accomplished something that I was so afraid of for so long. I still don’t like doing long drives, especially at night on freeways, but I will get up to it.

Behind The Wheel Again 23 months ago

Get back on the road and broaden my horizons!!!

I finally started working on this issue 2 years ago

Its been a long time since I’ve been on the site, for various reasons. I’m now cautiously getting back online. Since going away, I’ve started working on this goal and actually have driven a little bit, accompanied and completely alone. Its odd, but despite doing this, I actually feel more anxious about this than I did before I started driving again.

I did it. 2 years ago

A little over a year after my fathers death I was able to drive, now I can go anywhere in town, though everytime some one crosses a street I jump out of my skin – I did it. I feel like I have a little bit more of my life back, inch by inch eh?

Good luck everyone!

Why I Stopped Driving 3 years ago

I used to love driving, but then I had some night vision issues in college that made me scared to drive alone, especially at night. Since they didn’t happen often, I continued to drive. After college, I moved to a city where I didn’t need (or have) a car plus I developed vertigo, which made walking difficult, to say nothing of driving!

I no longer have the vertigo and I have ready access to a car, but I have just become so nervous about the thought of driving that I don’t do it and I haven’t tried to do it for years. I need to get back into the habit of it. I am planning to visit my parents in a few weeks. They live in a city that has lots of non-complicated places that I could practice driving in. So I am going to try to do that while I am there. They will think its hilarious!

On the road again... 3 years ago

Yes, I waited out my six months after having a medication-related seizure. (One med caused hyponatremia, low salt, and I was down for the count.) I have new doctors now and I’m feeling much better now.

One step closer – there is an opportunity for overtime at work (rare) which means in 2 weeks time I will have my share of the money to buy a car.
