How I did it: if you're trying to get motivated to exercise, the answer is most often just to do it. stop making excuses, or find a more compelling reason. just go.for me, my mum bought an erg, so i started rowing 30 minutes each day. eventually i got tired of it so i started walking my dog every day. hey, someone's gotta walk that animal, right? i figure, if i do it, then i'm getting my workout at the same time. win-win. How I did it: After many moons of not doing anything, I finally joined an early morning exercise group. Mornings work be for me, I'm energized throughout the day. After quitting the morning group (due to moving) I found roommates to be a good motivator. Read how I did it…

How I did it: First of all, I got up one day and went to the gym. I had no idea where anything was or how to use the crazy machines and felt like a complete idiot, but I went. Then I watched what other people were doing, and I mimicked them. I started running on the treadmill every Tuesday and Thursday morning before class. I signed up for group classes and went with my gym buddy (who is turning out to be a great best friend) as often as our … Read how I did it…

How I did it: We have to take into account that we're all very busy and have more than enough things on our minds so adding exercise each day can get overwheliming and inevitably we fail. The trick is to start small, like exercising once a week and then slowly build it up. So the following week exercise twice a week. Give yourself credit for it, reward yourself. At first it takes a little bit of discipline, but you will start to see results so fast, yo… Read how I did it…

I’ve been stretching every few days to try and get some of my flexibility up as well, so we shall see how that goes :)

I’ve been taking belly dancing for the past few months. It’s great exercise, and fun too! I’ve signed up for Zumba instead, and I start on Monday. It should be a higher aerobic workout, so maybe I can fit in yoga or pilates once during the week as well.

I need to exercise more. I’m not really overweight, but I could stand to lose a few Kilos. I want to do it so I can feel healthier, and get back my flexibility that I used to have when I did gymnastics when I was a lot younger.
I plan to join a gym in my area that is pretty cheap, and offers Yoga and other such classes as a part of the membership which I’m really looking forward to. I’m not joining just yet though, as I am going to Bali in two weeks, so there’s not much point in forking up all of that money just yet.

3 times a week? HA! I’m doing this DAILY now.
Total 360. I went from hitting the snooze button and saying “I’ll start this next week (for MONTHS…nearly a year)” to waking up before my alarm goes off and, never thought I’d say it, LOOKING FORWARD TO doing this.
I think what motivated me to finally tackle an exercise routine was my accidental weight loss through completing another goal on my list, Eat Healthier. Weight loss was not at all my goal, but a welcomed result. After losing 10 lbs by taking really small steps with my diet, I starting thinking about how I could take small steps to tone up my body.
I started running (more of a jog/waddle… a joddle?) every morning for about 20 minutes. I take my time. Set little goals for myself. It’s nothing huge, but it’s doable. I think that’s the key. When I’ve tried to do this in the past I had unrealistic goals like “Lose 30 lbs” or “get abs”. My goal is just to get in shape – be healthy, but I’ll welcome any added bonuses.
I’m hoping that after a couple months of doing this, I’ll be able to start adding calisthenics to my routine to switch it up a couple days a week. Right now, after my run, I’m wiped and barely have the energy to shower! I’m sure that’ll change in time.
I’m proud of myself. If I can keep this up for a year, I’ll take it off my list.
