Enough for my developer job. Not sure I want to get into being a DBA yet.
Got my OCP last year, and want to start studying for the OCM (Oracle Certified Master). Looking at the objectives (http://www.oracle.com/education), it could very well take me at least two years to thoroughly learn the objectives.
Had an idea to create a website with all the objectives and post how I accomplished each. It would have links to Oracle documentation, terminal copy/pastes, and notes. Then I could refer back or let others contribute to problems/questions. That could very well turn into a community—a study group OCM website. What does everyone think?
need to get rolling on this again. just (finally!) got a good install of grid control this last week and have been obsessing about it since … too bad it’s not a major part of the test (tho it should be because it’s pretty amazing).
in any case, cracking the whip!
I passed the first exam (SQL) some years ago, but I was too lazy to prepare for the rest of them. I need only one more passed exam to achieve the OCA certification and afterwards two more for the OCP.
passed by the skin o my teeth … it was much more difficult than i anticipated. the questions tended to be more on the obscure side and deductive reasoning was used more than once but, in the end, i managed to scrape by =]
on to 1Z0-040 …
studying my a$$ off at the moment and feeling woefully underprepared for the test on tuesday … considering taking tomorrow off just to get more hours of reading in. hopefully this last minute anxiousness is unfounded but i seriously doubt it.
... just scheduled my 9i upgrade exam for next wednesday. am i ready to take it? hell no. have i been studying much lately? definitely not. this is probably the kick in the posterior that I need to wrap up this test and get started on 10g.
is take a class.
Planning on taking the Data Warehouse class in NYC in September. Just need to cough up the cash and sign up.
with a very good score, too.
some of the questions were verbatim from the practice tests. Switching from the OCP test prep to the selftestsoftware.com stuff was a very good choice after all.
