adrenalizer finished a 5k race today!
How I did it: 2-3 months of training after a setback following torn ankle ligaments. Ran every other day - about 20-30 minutes/day, but took me ages to build up to that level! Read how I did it…

I have always wanted to do a marathon and the Great North Run seems like the perfect step to accomplish before I consider a longer distance.
Another reason for this goal is that I would like to raise some money for SH. Everyone knows that I am a very unenthusiastic runner and I hope people will recognise that this is a challenging goal for me and support me accordingly.
I’m going to start slowly, focus on building up from 0-5k before I put any specific training in place for the longer distance. If I can manage a 5k run by the end of March I’d feel pretty confident that I would be able to get my fitness up for the race in September 2009.
First steps:
1. Write a training plan that gets me to 5k between January and March 31st 2009.
2. Start training from 5th January.
3. Enter a 5k event end March/early April & review whether to train on for the GNR

For those of you who think its too late to start training, I only just started a week ago after spraining my ankle quite badly in February and never having enjoyed running before. Running my first 5k tomorrow so if I survive that, full steam ahead towards the Great North Run!
training and fundraising for barnados has been going well…. until i managed to injure myself during a run on monday. dont knwo what ive done but it hurts the whole length of my leg and i have been limping around all week. BOOOOOO! not what i need at all!!
this time last year my aim was to run 5k! i kept up running and completed a 10k for cancer research in October 2006. it felt like a real achievement and i raised some money for an important charity. All good! so i decided, along with mys sister and a couple of my best friends to enter the gnr. I’m running for Barnado’s this time.
Training a bit patchy so far!- but its 6 months away and i know that i an do it!
02:24:04, position 24240
And no, those figures aren’t made up!
I felt pretty rotten afterwards but I’m happy I managed to complete it. I’ll be training a lot more over the next year ready to try for a better time in 2007!
Two hours, forty five minutes, and forty five seconds.
I can’t quite believe it. No idea what’s next :)
