Beautifuldwarf happy thansgiving!
My boyfriend is all the time trying to learn Spanish (my first languge), and is quite good. But, my Dutch is terrible, almost zero. I think i dont born to pronuciate this language, but i read a little. I want a lot to learn. I will make a little space in my schedule to do it.
*Mama Bear* doubts she'll be back... but thanks to everyone for everything!!!!
I learned something new in Dutch today!
I need to find some cool music in Dutch… that’s how I learned English AND Danish, so this must be my key…
Wish I knew someone who was Dutch and knew something about music… Hmmmm… :p
I lived in Friesland and spoke dutch fluently, but since I moved back to the states it has been hard to find people to practice with. I still write letters and talk on the phone to my friends in Holland, but it’s been four years and I’m definitely not close to level I was at before. It’s not a skill I want to lose though! This summer I’m going to try to get some books in dutch, and make an effort to write to friends more.
I aquired a cd rom package today which teachers beginners the basics of Dutch. I’ll be on it A.S.A.P! First goal is to have a small conversation with my Oma! She would be so proud. She is very sick at the moment, and I think it would bring her so much joy if she heard me talk Dutch.
I can speak the basic stuff, but it can be so much better
after almost eight years of living here!
I have been reading Dutch books and other publications I brought back with me when I moved back. This helps alot I think, but in order to really improve and not feel like such a three year old is to have a tudor. I know one woman in Mpls that is Flemish and my advisor from college is proof that she is a great tudor. I need to work on some of my other goals before taking this goal further than reading and talking with my husband. I love studying languages!
