Cdngirl2Dr. Denise Faustman

This wonderful person has already cured diabetes in mice and is now in the process of gathering funding to enter phase 2 in human trials.

I am excited to put plans in place to figure out how I can promote her cause in Canada.

FABULOUS NEWS!!!

A1C is 5.9!!!!
My doctor said I have the A1C count of a non diabetic, god I am so happy! Just 4 months ago it was 14 when I was diagnosed!

Life is good! 5 years ago

lemonylimesI hate lows

ugh I went so low today and I don’t understand it either, it just hits me. I was napping on the couch, and woke up sooo sweaty. I knew something was up and I checked my blood sugar – 2.2. That’s the lowest I’ve ever been.
I think I took 6 sugar tablets and then I stuffed down half a box of crackers. Probably a little too much, but honestly at that point all I could think about was getting my blood sugar way way back up. It’s the worst feeling in the world.
I tried to explain it to a friend of mine – like not eating for awhile, and getting that dizzy feeling, but like tenfold of that.

other then that, I’ve been doing really good lately. I know it’s going to get A LOT harder, as of right now I’m still making insulin, but I’m trying to look on the bright side.
This disease will only make me work harder to stay in shape, eat healthier and respect my body! 5 years ago

Carbs only at breakfast.. I’m doing pretty good!

Lots of protein! Some fatty food, minimum carbs
It’s hard, but fun. I found a new love for hard boiled eggs!

I’m sugars been high lately though, I’m not enitrely sure why. 5 years ago

I’m experimenting with lowering my carb intake, it’s interesting.. my doc gave me the ok too just in case you were going to jump down my throat about that :) 5 years ago

lemonylimesMake your friends give blood for you

I can’t give blood anymore, Canadian Blood actually “terminated” my account as the lady on the phone said.

That’s something I cried over. I can’t save lives anymore, but I’m making my friends do it for me now and I encourage you guys to donate for your type 1 friends/brothers/sisters/mothers/fathers

Thought I’d add that! 5 years ago

lemonylimesDang we need one

I’ve been type 1 for officially 1 month and 2 days and I’m already sick of the finger pokes.

I’m going to be an engineer and I’m going to come up with an invasive to take blood glucose readings! chya!

Diabetes is hard, I’m not going to lie, and I’m still in honeymoon stage! But got to stay positive!!
Probably a favorite picture of mine as of right now is of a friend and myself posing at a party, both of us completely smashed out of our minds, with needles sticking out of our arms. Yeah we’re awesome, she’s been type 1 since she was six.

haha always a good laugh!! 5 years ago

sweeet26sarahI pray for a cure....

My dad died when he was 44 years old. He was a juvenile diabetic since he was 12 years old. I pray one day they will find a cure for people with this disease. 6 years ago

piegitoday was a reminder.

funkyChickenMy brother had juvenile diabetes...

...since he was 11 years old. He passed away two years ago at the age of 38. Ever since then, I have done all I can to raise money for JDRF, and to also raise awareness of this disease. Some great strides are being made in juvenile diabetes research. I hope they find a cure in my lifetime. I don’t want anyone else to lose someone they love to this disease! 6 years ago

Chris CarterWishful thinking I guess

I’m 35 and was diagnosed with insulin-dependent diabetes when I turned 33. When I was growing up and trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, becoming a diabetic wasn’t on my list. I take care of myself, take my shots faithfully, spend a small fortune on those stupid test strips(8 to 10 per day) and pretty much try to forget about it for most of every day. 7 years ago

wolf1She's off the insulin!

While she’s not off medication completely, she is off the insulin. For Jeannie, that’s a major goal accomplished. Bless her heart, she’s trying so very hard.

Her long-term sugar has dropped from about 10.3 to 8.2 with her ultimate goal being 7. I am so very proud of her…she’s worked hard to get this down, and it’s beginning to pay off for her. 7 years ago

wolf1Amen!

Having a 19 year-old daughter just put on insulin three days ago tends to drive one to a goal such as this. I must admit, though, she’s handling it better than I am. Of course, we’re still optimistic that this is just a temporary setback for her, and once she gets it lowered she may well be able to go back to just oral meds.
We’re hoping this particular prayer will be answered. 7 years ago
