Jill my aim is true
Went on a lovely yet buggy hike in Dillon Colorado last week.
Went “tromping/hiking” through downtown today!

How I did it: I ran a search on Google for a running club and found one that is currently doing trail runs. I got in contact with the person responsible for picking the trails and he provided me with very useful tips. Read how I did it…

How I did it: Found a park near my house that had a trail and went for it! I already went there for the beach area several times. Find out how long the trail is and what you'll need. Read how I did it…

went to a park on the border of NY state and NJ – Harriman State Park.
Great hike with lots of ups and downs – so a good work out, and yet not too much of one thing at a time. (Just when you’re getting tired of going up, there’s a level area, then a down area, etc)
lots of woods, and at least three open vista points.
nice.

My husband and I used to hike A LOT in the past (before we discovered surfing) and I always loved it! There’s something spectacular about being amidst nature, and through the virtual silence, picking up on those peculiar sounds of foreign bugs or the sudden spark of singing birds. The experience has a way of heightening one’s senses, and forcing us to get in touch with something bigger and more ancient than the modern society most of us exist in. Recently, my husband and I went on several hiking excursions and I’m in love with the freedom of it all!

I need to do this sort of thing more often.
In July, I did a little hiking in the Finger Lakes region of New York. We hiked up the gorges and waterfalls in several parks and it was VERY fun. If I hadn’t lost all this weight and started running, I probably would’ve passed out! I definitely want to get more into hiking in the future.
I’ve had a few good hikes this year – the best one being at Letchworth State Park a few months ago. I love hiking, and it’s one of my favorite ways to try to keep in shape. As long as I can find a decent park, especially with paths through a lot of trees, I’m always up for it. I definitely recommend it.

Okay, so I really need to get into more shape. Though I must not have been too bad if I wasn’t worn out until I had to climb the final steps back to the campsite. I wheezed after that and couldn’t lift my legs enough to walk up without resting.
My cousin and I walked because there was nothing to do at our family reunion today and wanted to catch up on a few things since we hadn’t spoken in about six months. We took one trail, and figured it would eventually loop around. It didn’t. Took another trail that looked as though it would go in the same direction, but just took us in a huge circle and put us back at the end of the first trail. Oi!
All in all, we were out for about two hours and covered about 6.5 or 7 miles. Sickening. :P Also adding on the extra distance we walked while carting around a lost kid we had come across, checking ALL the nearby campsites and then finally ending up in the right direction and finding his family. We were really relieved.
D: But I can’t bend my knees anymore and I covered them in Bengay. Must have pulled a lot of something. It sucks living upstairs now. At least I don’t have to do anything tomorrow until late. x_x;
After being in yellowstone for 3 weeks…I finally was able to go on a hike in Riggins, Idaho for my new job working at a white water rafting company.
Note to who ever is reading this: Don’t go to work in Yellowstone expecting to have free time to play in the park – it won’t happen!
