become a photographer

Before I was even born, photography was a part of my life. I used to use my moms old Minolta camera which was given to her by her friends mother who passed away, and I was always afraid to carry it around with me because of how important it was to her, so I eventually got my own (a Canon Digital Rebel with 10.1 mega pixels). I didn’t want a digital camera at first, but I’m very fond of the one I have now. I never have to worry that the back is going to fly open randomly and expose the film. I lost a lot of good photos because of that.

I mostly get my cats and chinchillas to model for me seeing as my friends all refuse to smile in pictures, but, as I’ve learned, that isn’t enough. I can’t take my cats to the mountains and I worry that if I take my chinchillas out of my room that they’ll run off and I won’t be able to catch them (even though they come to me when I call them). Plus, I get panic attacks when I leave my house for too long (long story).

I plan on signing up for a photography class when I (hopefully) transfer over to Insight. I also plan on going to our local community college to sign up for classes there (which my mom doesn’t really want me to do, but she’ll let me anyway).

I’m going to try and start bringing my camera with me everywhere because whenever I don’t have it, I come across something that would have been great to photograph.

I love to take pictures, but it would be amazing to take it to the next level! I want to take pictures that motivate others to change the world for the better!

I want to travel all over the world when I’m older and take pictures. I really want to be a traveling photographer

I recently got a new SLR camra and I want to master it and take pictuers in my spare time.

must all forms of photography majors be so expensive? I talked to my mom a little to vent or get a little advice and she laughs!...”Kacy, I love you and you have always been very put together, but you have been expensive since birth. Why would you think things would change now?”...her saying this made me feel incredibly guilty and selfish. I have been pretty much independent this year with money and I thought I adjusted pretty well…but apparently I was wrong. From now on I am going to make some budget cuts for myself and put more money towards school. I want to finish and finally get out there and do what I have always wanted to do…take pictures :)

I like to see myself as a photographer already. Saying that I have never studied a photography course unlike some of my friends who are doing degrees now. I prefer to be out there and for the past 2/3 years have been learning more and more and right now I feel I’m in a good place. My photo was in the local paper recently and I have even sold some of my photos to people.

I know I still have alot to learn; I would like to learn about darkrooms and lighting.

I sometimes feel that people like me who are really into photography are held back by college/uni degrees. I have been on a few art courses in my time and I think experience would benefit more than learning.

The warmer weather is going to motivate me to get out and take new pictures of my new town. I need a new scope but for now I will have to make do taking pictures up close.
