I finished the top as a single woman but didn’t finish the whole thing until after I got married (and I did receive one as a wedding gift), but it was still totally worth doing.

...of calico fills my house. All of that fabric is intended to make a quilt that I hope to sleep under for the rest of my life. There’s something really, really special about a quilt. I made a small quilt in Girl Scouts, more than a decade ago. I guess that’s where the obsession started. Then I made a quilt for Lilith Fair (we needed something to sit on!). That quilt went to Amy. Then I made Dan a quilt for our anniversary. That relationship, sadly, ended about 2 years ago. All of the quilts I’ve made have been WORK. But it was good work, that made me happy.
