This is such a gratifying thing. I would suggest trying the dishes a time or two before you serve them to guests. Make simple things (roast chicken is easy and impressive), make as much as you can from local, organic ingredients, and figure out how long everything takes so that it’s all finished at once.
Oh, and have a spare dessert in the freezer. Even if you make one. Nothing can turn a bad meal around faster than good chocolate and coffee. 5 years ago

I’ve only learned to cook in the last year and for the first few months, everything was burnt or tasted awful. So i went out at got myself a whole variety of cookbooks with relatively straight-forward recipes and good pics for a guide! It took ages until i was comfortable inviting anyone over for a meal but finally I started inviting friends and family over and it turns out… I can COOK!! Even if the finished product doesnt look exactly like the pic in the book, it still tastes good and everyone appreciates that I’m trying! My advice is, keep it simple so ur more likely to do a good job. Keep it fun so that you never think of it as a chore. Good luck! 5 years ago
