This goal does not align itself with my current goals of losing weight and saving money.
How I did it: Asking people I know for recommendations. Being more spontaneous and trying new venues. Doing a bit of research on the internet, reading reviews from other patrons.
Lessons & tips: Being more spontaneous and trying new menu items has been fun. I keep discovering new food types and combinations which has inspired me to cook for the first time in my life.

For a friend’s bachelorette party recently we went to Brio Tuscan Grill. I had the Gorgonzola Lamb Chops and they were divine. I also had a lot of drinks (all very good) and a chocolate dessert that was awesome. A little expensive, but a very nice place for a special dinner.

Today we went to Gates BBQ. It was ok but I’ve had better BBQ.

Technically, this is not a new restaurant for me, but I haven’t been in years so I’m considering it as such. We went last week while we were in Texas. I walked into the restaurant and the smell just took over me and I came back home! The BBQ in Kansas City just doesn’t smell the same. I would highly recommend Central Texas Style BBQ to anyone visiting as true Texas BBQ.

Tonight we went to Thai Place. It was very good. The Galanga Soup was different but the broth was decadent. We ordered Musaman Curry and Pad Kee Mao. It was the best Pad Kee Mao ever! The lunch menu is a very good value according to my husband. Dinner is a little pricey, but for a treat, it’s not so bad.

Yesterday while out-and-about we stopped at Wislow’s BBQ for dinner. The food was pretty good and the prices were right on target. I had a pulled pork sandwich, french fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was not to my taste, but I think it may be a regional thing like the way the meat is prepared here. I’m still a Texas foodie at heart.

Last week we went to Ted’s Montana Grill because I had a craving for red meat. The specialize in Bison so my husband could get some red meat too. It was very good. They have these things called half-sours which are between cucmbers and pickles in both taste and texture. I love pickles in all forms and I ate two whole bowls of them myself. However, it was a little pricy. My husband also said that while his bison steak was good, the one he made at home recently was just as good at a fraction of the price. So we may not go back there for awhile, but at least we can say that we’ve gone.
I went to Pelligrini’s in Balmain on Elliot Street Wharf, looking out at the Harbour. Food was forgettable but the view was wonderfully overcast, it rained mist on us, and the lights shimmered on the black water at night. It was romantic. Pity I wasn’t on a date…

Our family took us to Lydia’s Kansas City for our 2-year anniversary. It was the best meal I’ve ever had in Kansas City. I ate until I was stuffed. I plan to go back for our second wedding anniversary in March

This month I went with some girlfriends to Matsu Sushi for lunch. I went WAY out of my box and ordered a sushi sampler. It was SOOO good. I hate the way fish smells, cooked or not, but this had no smell at all to it and it tasted wonderful. I am definitely going to go back to another sushi restaurant.
