“Results for Sections 1 and 2 are reported on the BMAT scale, which runs from 1 (low) to 9 (high), with scores being reported to one decimal place. Extreme scores are expected to be comparatively rare. The scale has been designed so that typical applicants to the most highly selective undergraduate university courses in the UK (who are by definition academically very able) will score around 5.0. The best applicants will score more highly, but 6.0 represents a comparatively high score and only a few very exceptional applicants will achieve BMAT scores higher than 7.0.”
OK. I’m taking this as a personal challenge.
The logic goes something like this: The first two sections are Aptitude and Skills and Scientific Knowledge. These are revisable, A&S looks like an IQ test and SK is just like GCSE but mixed up and with more maths. So I should theoretically, with enough work (especially considering they’re multiple choice/ one-word answers), get full marks on both of them. It’s marked out of 9.0, so this gives me a little leeway.
The essay, however, is a problem. I’m going to do a mock test for all three, see what I get, and work from there. Hopefully little work will need doing for sections A&S and SK, but a lot of help will be needed before I start getting decent marks on essays. Plus, how am I meant to get it marked?
I’m going to read all those Crit Thinking books.
