Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

alfajorcito40 madrugadas

My parents and sister have done this devotional study for 40 days in a row (called “40 dawns”) In my case this will translate to a more doable feat such as 40 midmornings or as soon as I wake up.
I am starting today. I usually prefer reading a variety of books and the Bible for devotionals, I almost never stick to just one book so this will be interesting.
My family has raved about the depth of these studies and how awesome it felt to start the day with a meditation. There are lots of studies that show that 30 min of daily meditation aids in decreasing stress and improving overall health. I don’t have to be convinced of the value of connecting with a Higher Power. I struggle with consistency though… 6 years ago

alfajorcitoRomans 14

This last weekend my husband and I had a great discussion over Romans 14. We both love that text. I really needed to study it over again. I get so annoyed at times at people in general as if I knew better, you know? AS IF!! This text is awesome, so humbling, so full of wisdom and great advice. I just love it.
We have been dealing with some difference of opinion between his parents and ourselves about how we should practice our religion and I get very upset about this issue. They are very conservative, but in my view very incongruent. This drives me crazy!! I love them and respect them and I hope that after the talk he had with them they’ll at least respect our choices. I do wish they understood them, but I’ll settle for respect. I was kinda proud of myself for not confronting his mom, I so wanted to say what was on my mind. But, it was more an issue they needed to discuss with my husband. So, it was good to read Romans 14 again and refocus on what is important. 7 years ago

OK…I am still in Genesis, but it could be because I keep jumping to other books. The point is not to get through the whole Bible ASAP but to dwell in it, relishing each moment. I’ve always loved reading the Bible, just got out of the habit. I want that habit back. It’s getting there. 7 years ago

I read my Bible and prayed a gratitude prayer first thing in the morning. There’s no better way to start my day. 7 years ago

alfajorcitoreading and praying

Doing better this week. The other night I stayed up praying for awhile, it felt so good to be up so late, when it’s so quiet and have time alone with Him. That goes for my other goal as well: To be STILL and KNOW. 7 years ago

alfajorcitofeel closer to God

I am praying more. It helps to just start praying at random times, not just at my usual talks to God (before meals or at bedtime). Talk to Him just because…It makes me feel closer to God and more in tune with what I am supposed to accomplish every day. 7 years ago

Why is this so hard to keep up? I mean, once I get the Book I just love reading it…but I keep forgetting! 7 years ago
