Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

yogagal1Be aware of the traps: Things that aren't in the way, but making a mole of mountain (if unaware)

This is the week that silly things will come up that seem very “urgent” and “must do now”

- Boss will have some thing stressful important or urgent to say to me that will upset me or cause distress

- While not getting any job offers b4, this is the week that I’ll get calls from others that probably aren’t really going to hire me anyways but will seem like ONCE-in-a-life-time-opportunity to me . again, kind of ridicioulus

- Something will break in the car, apartment or my body

-The houseing company may decided to give move out notice now

-my mother or family will have some urgent distrubing or emotionally charged thing to say or annoucement to make. 3 months ago

yogagal1Slowing down to speed up:

Sometimes taking an hour to prepare food, to clean, to feel centered yields much calm and productivity than rushing, grabbing to go food and not feeling focused, calm or centered. 3 months ago

yogagal1Email: Useless and ineffective way to regulate my emotion or give myself that emotional boost

I will limit myself to checking email in 2x a day. Otherwise, it’s a useless way to give myself some boost. 4 months ago

yogagal1How to improve this: what not to do

Today wasn’t as effective: switching to 3 different spots (2 lib, 1 coffee) to get things done due to silly internet.

Letting the first order of business of the day be an activity that is really silly, frustrating and time consuming.

Driving to the food place 2 x to get food: plan out meals in the morning is much better option

No time to exercise: again this can be done with some planning

bad sleep late and nightmares 4 months ago

yogagal1A high-mileage day!

I want to get things done, off my list instead of prolonging, taking too long to do things that another version of myself can get done quickly!

I love the feeling of a high mileage day 6 months ago

yogagal1Round up of last 2 days: Fri, Sat, Sun

The past 2 days have been a wash.
Friday night I took the test : Good job.
Saturday: I got back around 3pm from wrk and then after that I just did or wrote explanations for 2 problems while thinking about the “future that isn’t even here yet and depends on my use of time now”..and went to sleep at around 2pm wondering about someone’else life (it’s not relevant to me)

Woke up at 11pm (After 8am snooze alarm, gosh) finally and started the day not too right. I have to figure out my food situation and eat better, healthier, more vitamins and fresh food. Not just pasta and tomato sauce. and sugar. From 3 hours waste: 1 hour obsessing and 2 of them reading about memories of geisha and amy tan’s book after i heard on the radio while I was trying to work my new alarm clock.

Well, I want to start off at the right time tmr so going to be early now.

Deep breaths. 8 months ago

yogagal1Week is going unproductive!

Sun:
11:30 am work up after dancing late, 12-2 chat with an old friend that may have gone past it’s expiration time
Just took 1 ps
neighbor intreruption from 6-7pm. 9-10pm session

Monday: 11am woke up; send email get anxious about the trip. Here back and response. (I said that things may change but perhaps that’s something I was telling myself more than anything; it’s a given that things change).

went to the 1 hour interview TPR and getting anxious about not doing p-test.

nostalgic, helped annie clean up, re-read old msg 7-turned off computer and went to sleep

Tuesday: 11am woke up, went to weight lifting class,
re-read more old msgs
finished 2 sections around 6pm and then cleaned and sleep

Weds:11:30am woke up. 0 work done. 1-4pm some stupid housewifydinner
re-read a littel bit more. regurgiated more. 7pm same, feeling terrible about not working.
going to bed

GOSH my week is going so terrible! What am I waiting for ? It’s going to happen now , here in the now. Breathe deeply 8 months ago

yogagal1*HELP* Looks like I'm having winter-blues...

-Oversleeping ie. 10-12 hours. I tell myself to stay in bed for 10 mins and or so..and when I look up the clock, it’s 1.5 hours later!

Any suggestions on how to improve? 8 months ago

yogagal1Spending 4 hours reading some silly novel type tourist travel log is'nt the most relaxing break for me

I’m starting to get anxious but gotta keep calm and hit the books. Soon , I’ll feel alright! 9 months ago

yogagal1Keep the internet out!

Either I’d go to home and get anxious and start reading things online that don’t help me at all and in the end, just make anxious and waste time.

I’ve decided to put my computer in my living room on the bar counter top that way I reserve my room for studying only. and not have the temptation around. It’s going to be tough to deal with all my feelings and anxiety but perhaps I can take a walk or somehting.

also, if i don’t study and things done within 15 mins – i go the library. if the past 1 hour is unproductive, i have to go outside of my home. these rules i ought to have myself to ensure that the best outcome comes from this.
I’m going to go to bed soon and start tomorrow. Follow the study schedule and break schedule as closely as possible. 9 months ago
