    Our wedding was traditional(ish) but definitely ours. No Christian vows for us, we took our vows to be more literal and instead promised to help with chores and raising children together. Our colors were a crazy and bright pink and orange. I walked down the aisle to Norah Jones’ “Come Away with Me,” and we kissed to “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer. We basically made our own wedding ceremony, down to who walked when, stood where, and said what. We poured an orange and a pink sand instead of lighting a unity candle.

    Originally I wanted a totally unique, wild wedding, but then I realized that I didn’t want it so in-your-face different that people only noticed how weird everything was. I didn’t want a circus, I wanted a meaningful and personal ceremony. In the end, what we had was a perfect balance.

    Introduction 2 years ago

    Weddings are basically a way of officially saying “Ok, you’re family now,” so if I ever get married, I want to have my own style to it. The traditions may be all beautiful and sacred to some people, but I want my own look on it;

    1. I want to have a forest green weddings dress. Everything green; veil and all. Maybe even have some rose prints on it.
    2. I want the wedding to take place in a forest. Perhaps the nook in the woods where the wishing trees are at the Maryland Faerie Festival.
    3. I want our wedding song to be “Kiss Me” by Sixpence None the Richer; it’s one of my favorite songs, and I actually became famous in high school for my performance of it in the talent show.
    4. I want some sort of stand-up comedian at the wedding. Perhaps have a roast or something. Dane Cook would be a wonderful edition to such an event, don’t you think?

    ummm…argh, I knew there were more…oh well.
