How I did it: The first time, all I did was go to the 'airport' in Hope, BC during August. I've moved since then; now all I have to do is walk out to my back yard in the hot summer months to see / experience it. Read how I did it…

How I did it: It was completely by accident, really. I didn't go scouting it out, but i was camping in Merit Valley and I couldn't sleep, so I was planning on going for a walk, and I left the tent and was blown away by the veils of colour rippling across the sky. I dragged out a blanket and lay on it, mesmerized by the shimmering colours. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Living in Duluth, MN, I saw this for years. Just amazing. I took it for granted and now I miss it. Definately worth traveling to see this pure wonder - it will take your breath away. Read how I did it…

How I did it: i saw this on a dark clear night driving home from Wisconsin between Tomah and Eau Claire last summer. It was during a time where the sky was very clear and seeing the borealis was in full view. Beautiful and breathtaking. I'd still like to travel north to a location to see it in its more vibrant and mystical form. Read how I did it…

it is very beautiful and i think it would be an amazing and unforgettable experience. where are sightings most common?
Better than any fireworks or cinema graphics are nature’s light shows. I ADORE lightening storms and I imagine this is even more amazing. Am looking forward to remember the day i see it for the first time.
I really want to see the aurora borealis, it is so beautiful and I’d love to.
I actually saw this once, when I was a teenager. I was at girls camp, sleeping beneath the stars and couldn’t figure out what I was seeing. It was so beautiful but unlike anything I’d ever seen before. Some girls thought the world was ending.
Anyways, the next morning we were told it was the northern lights. Ever since, I’ve wanted to see them again but haven’t.
The farther north you go the better. I’ve seen them from the Toronto area but they are not impressive. One night while fishing in Thunder Bay Ontario i was treated to my first true sighting. An awe inspiring continuous waterfall-like curtain hundreds of miles long and hundreds of miles high shimering with a multitude of indescribeable colours against a background colour of emerald green pitted against a jetblack sky unpolluted by manmade light. They are most prevalent with solar flares. Time your trip to a northern local of little light pollution with know solar flare eruptions. Enjoy!

I’d like to drive from the UK over to Norway & right up north in my TVR & get to see the Aurora Borealis whilst there ;-)
Now that I am living in England I have a better chance of heading over to Norway or Iceland to go and catch the northern lights.
