Emailed the adoptee white uncle and aunt, hoping they didnt have any ideas and would donate to our hously cause.However, no avail. In fact, they think I can afford to pay their sons to fix up! Hey, just because my diet is frozen samosas, Ritalin and marlboro reds DOES NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT mean I am not equally capable of completing home renovating task. Though, my lack of $$$$$$$$$ does. Hence, paying your sons is a foolish, implausible idea.

Don’t get me wrong, they gave some great advice. I think they symphatize with me a little, the commented on the atrocious (absolutely atrocious) door that was haphazardly stripped with generic chemical strip (hello, your house is painted WITH LEAD PAINT). Rawr, frustration.

Well, at least I got their support. Furthermore, they say after the holidays they will fix the lights. Ohhh , to finally have a pull switch and not have to screw/unscrew the lightbulbs, I thought it was only a dream.

okay, my freestanding pantry idea is kind of botched because i need to have a hoarding intervention with my roommate about the cookbooks.

kitchen also has tons of things that don’t belong in the kitchen, so once the other areas are accounted for and these things are put away, the kitchen will be easier.

it also needs serious wall work.

So the dresser drawer thing will go in the studio i think.

now if i can figure out how to get rid of the the fruity wallpaper… 17 months ago

I did a lot of tool organizing. I am trying to establish a “tool center” in the cellar. I bought a battery operated light for this. That way everything is still “at eye level”, but tucked away for access only when they are needed. More importantly, this will free up the drawers in the kitchen to be used for well, kitchen stuff.

I got a pretty awesome dresser from the “qcc swap shop”, which is where people dump things they don’t need. Boy, did I look like a hoarder randomly driving in to school to disassemble that thing. Particularly more so since it’s been sitting in my car, disassembled, not functioning as a dresser, for two days.

I’m going to use it as a freestanding pantry in the kitchen though. I just don’t like starting renovating commotion with my roommate in the house. I think she gets perturbed when I move her things. She loves it in the end, but it’s still a hard process for her to watch. Plus I want it to be a surprise. :D

It had red and white handles, I bought some silver handles from walmart. One of the drawer boards is missing a screw, but luckily, as i learned the hard way, my roommates have enough hardware to start up a local hardware store. I’m thinking of replacing the hardware on the kitchen drawers and spray painting the cabinet latches silver. Since my roommates are loyal patrons of walmart, they have a lot of stainless steel, white, and blue appliances. So i think I’m going with a navy/steel theme, it’s a fun unorthodox color scheme i think, it’ll be fun.

There’s part of me that’s infuriated that I’ve only lived here for over a year, while my roommates have been here most of their lives, and I’m the only one that cares about it. Then I remember, this is pretty damn fun, and forget about that. :) 17 months ago

Low, low priority. I wish it could be higher, but the products are WAY to expensive for the lack of immediate benefit I will be receiving from it.
