although this is a lifetime way of eating. I’ve kicked the junk food habit completely – no more coke, cookies, little debbies… I don’t have the desire to eat them anymore YAY

I'm having really good success with this now 3 years ago

as I’ve rejoined Weight Watchers and I’m doing the Core Plan. Basically – I can eat foods off the Core list – fruits, vegs, lean meats, FF dairy, 1 Whole grain pasta/rice or a potato. I do have a little lee way for “bad” stuff – so I am not feeling deprived and I am finally forcing myself back to eating the way I’ve been telling myself I need to. Why did I need to pay an organization to start doing what I already knew I needed to do? Who knows…

But so far I’m very happy with my food choices and how I feel. I’ll keep you posted as to how the program works out.

I had good success on their points program before I got pregnant with my youngest, but I felt the (currently called Flex) program was too easy to manipulate to eat crappy food (ok, it might be LESS crappy food – thus the temp weight loss) My goal is mainly to improve my health – by improving the quality of the food I eat, and hopefully lose excess weight in the process.

on this goal. I’m sort of sad to say I am complete, but really, I am done. I barely eat junk food, and I am really eating well.

    Tonight:
Salad from Resturant: Ice berg lettuce (ugh), egg, cukes, tomatos and carrot.
    one grapefruit.
    2 medium sweet potatos.
    V. Full
I have sooooo much more energy now that I am doing this. :)
    Very Worth it!

Should I check this off??? 3 years ago

I looked back on my entries, and it seems I have now been doing this for 12 weeks. 90 days. Obviously, I can not go back to junk food, but I do think everyone is getting a bit tired of seeing entries regarding beets, and I have the other team goal regarding food.
What do y’all think, time to say done? I think I’ve joined the fruit and vegetable party by now?

    peas 3 years ago

    Oh so exciting…

a cup of peas (2 servings)
a cup of spinach (2 servings)
a half cut of nice lovely beets
5 prunes (45 grams of prune)

    a glass of buttermilk

later will do half a cup of cottage cheese.

Sorry people, its boring, but I did it.

    helping me out today…
    really ate a lot:

a cup of spinach (2 servings)
a 1/2 cup of Harvard Beets
    an Apple (Pink Lady, yum)
3 prunes (remember folks, they aren’t just for Grandma or Grandpa)
    One Roma Tomato
Small amount of yellow pepper and carrot

So it comes up to a grand total of about 5.5 servings of fruits and vegetables. I am finding I love this goal, and I soon may just have to lop off the junk food thing, as I have had so little now. :)

Edited to add in dairy, I always sort of shortchange dairy:
lets see: yogurt. Buttermilk. and the calcium in the crazy “breakfast” cookie. add the salmon calcium and the calcium in the spinach and I was at 111% DV.

    Fruit day 3 years ago

    Prunes (not just for Grandmas)
a grapefruit (one half is one serving, so two servings)
    Some nice coleslaw…
    a roma tomato
    tomato sauce on spaghetti

and 2 pieces of cheese and a fruited yogurt.

    It was a nice meal.
I probably will have some buttermilk when I get home from work, just to round it all out…buttermilk, oddly has less calories than skim, with all the calcium and a very interesting flavor.

    Collard Greens 3 years ago

Collard (also known as tree-cabbage or nonheading cabbage), is a cool-season vegetable green that is rich in vitamins and minerals. It grows better in warm weather and can tolerate more cold weather in the late fall than any other member of the cabbage family. Although collard is a popular substitute for cabbage in the Deep South, it can also be grown in northern areas because it is frost tolerant.
Info tid bit there for those who don’t know collards…

Had a cup of collards (2 servings)
    A roma tomato
    carrots (1.5 servings)
    a nice Pink Lady apple
So 5.5 servings. Not too bad.
The collards were however, the best ever.
