finally happy to consign it to the past 2 years ago

it was great, soggy, but great. i’ll add to here with memories for my own sake, but have to tick this as done.

that feels rather sad. final marker that the festival is over for another year.

so a gloomy picture of fabulous flags shining through seems quite relevant

Been back to work today and people asked what it was like. 2 years ago
Hard to describe. I’ve been looking forward to this for so long it is weird to think and know it’s in the past now. I’ve been home for 48 hours now and I still feel a strong buzz from the festival. To sum up what and who we have seen in full (SIF), seen the beginning or first half of and then left to go elsewhere(SB/S1stH), caught the 2nd half or the end of(C2ndH/CE), or simply heard and watched from our tent above Pyramid Stage(TPS), I’ll attempt to make a list, using the mini guide:
Day 1
  • Adjagas (TPS/on the way to get breakfast)
  • Modest Mouse (SIF/in the pouring rain)
  • The Automatic (S1stH/more rain, love their stuff)
  • Amy Winehouse (SIF, she brought the sun out!)
  • The Magic Numbers (C2ndH/TPS/This! Band! Is! Ace!)
  • Bloc Party (S1stH/OK, but overrated in my opinion and the singer’s voice got on my tits after a few tracks, went to catch a few last rays at stone circle)
  • Rufus Wainwright (CE/nice dancing shoes, a wonderful artist and performer)
  • Kasabian (CE/TPS/as expected: good band. cool tunes)
  • Arctic Monkeys (SIF/a first highlight, but somehow missed the spark, “Diamonds are forever” was class, though)
Day 2
  • Liz Green (TPS/woke up to this, can’t remember much, must have been the Brother’s cider)
  • Shlomo (SIF/total coincidence, saw a 20 minute gig at The Park, this beat boxer is fantastic!!!)
  • Dirty Pretty Things (CE/never heard of them, liked the stuff I heard)
  • Lily Allen (SIF/great performance, a bit too much attitude for my liking)
  • Paolo Nutini (SB/cheeky boy, nice voice, but wanted to go to eat, see the circus and trash city)
  • Paul Weller (C2ndH/love that Billy Elliot song!)
  • The Kooks (SIF/favourite of the whole week)
  • The Killers (SIF/killer concert, screw the sound, all you needed to do was to find a better spot)
Day 3
  • National Youth Orchestra (TPS/great way to wake up, but unfortunately they didn’t say whose works they were playing)
  • Corb Lund (SB/not into at all)
  • Tony Benn’s speech (SIF, by pure coincidence! Serendipity?!?)
  • Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. (CE/marvelous band)
  • Shirley Bassey (TPS/Wow factor plus diva behaviour)
  • Manic Street Preachers (SIF/wasn’t too impressed)
  • Kaiser Chiefs (SB/tried to avoid, but had to walk around top and north side of PS to get to the John Peel Stage)
  • Just Jack (CE/just the song Starz in their eyes, which was brilliant!)
  • Jamie T (SIF/one of the most uplifting concerts)
  • Chemical Brothers (C2ndH/feet hurting, red-B transforming into moany cow)

On Thursday evening, we caught a spontanious crowd at the Stone Circle going bonkers around a band performing in front of the PortA-Loo-Henge. There was also a guy in a white sheet with beard and viking helmet on top of a porta-loo with two flares. Made the fezzie paper on Saturday.
Other highlights for me were of course seeing Michael Eavis crossing the road just in front of our bus when we arrived at the site, being at the stone circle, climbing the Ribbon Tower, being with my man 24/7 for a whole week (except for toilet moments of course), the wind and rain on my ass when using the long drops, sitting on a couch made of grass turf cut-outs, the food (especially the Hog Roast), drinking Brother’s cider with that Aussie and his mate in the sunshine and sending the first woo-hoos across the site, applauding that girl climbing a white flag pole, walking through the mud for 3 1/2 days, being part of the girl mob raiding the She-Pee at night, the Mystic Swing and the Bubble Man, wet wipes, the amazing positivity at the Jamie T gig and him asking to have stuff thrown at him during the last song, catching thatChemical Brothers tune at time index 26:15 I like so much, the Scottish juggleress Jamie(?) in the Circus, our nice tent neighbours, their spliffs and their gazebo, but mostly them being really nice and the fact that we made the National Express bus back to Bristol just in time. We regret we never made it to Lost Vagueness at night time and missing Klaxons.
Glasto forever!!!
Thank you Michael Eavis. You are my hero.

Glastonbury 2007. Well, it's all over now.... 2 years ago

Think I’ve brought the rain back home with me!
Feeling very tired and fragile, I’m off for a good sleep, before I tackle the clothes washing!!!

Finally found all the clothes I want to take with me.... 2 years ago

This includes day-glo waterproof, pink bikini top and a fur jacket…...if nothing else, I’ll stand out!

But have you checked out the weather report?

What I'll be wearing 2 years ago

So here is a pic of the most recognisable things I’ll be wearing at Glastonbury. Depending on the weather, I’ll be combining them with the golden or checkered leggings or yellow fishnets. Or with wellies. Or everything is covered up with wetgear. I guess the most constant thing on me will be the bright green fleece jacket on the right. So watch out for that one. If you think you have spotted me, make sure you say 43-Hi!!!
