I should be in bed. In any case, what exactly does this goal mean? How can a road trip be utterly and truly not-predetermined? Maybe for some people it would be easy: go right! go left! turn here! But I’d be thinking, at the very least, of what lay in the directions of north, south, east, and west, and which ones sounded appealing. I can see packing a bag with my wife and just seeing where we felt like going…but then at that point, isn’t it predetermined?
I’m overthinking this. I think the point is to get in the car and go without having planned the whole damn trip. Yeah. I’m sticking with that. And should do it soon. 1 day ago

This is one of those things I want to do someday with my wife. It’s hard now since I’ve got four kids, but it would be a fun vacation to just drive with no destination. Not this year. As a newbie the things I would like to know are:
*what’s a good budget for this kind of trip
*what tools or technology do you use (i.e. Iphone, wifi, maps, etc.)
*what do you pack? (food, camping supplies, types of clothing, firstaid kit, etc.)
*how do you decided what direction to go (coin flip, random number generator) 1 day ago
The trip that lasted a year ending November 2011 – we gave up our apartment, bought a camper van and never had a plan until a few days before hand and it was fantastic. We only had a general idea of where we wanted to go (i.e. Alaska) and just headed in that direction looking for great things to do along the way.
It was just me and my significant other – a great test to our relationship, making us closer and more aware of ourselves and one another.
We found that it if you’re smart about it, the trip can cost as much as everyday life (rent, food and expenses). 1 day ago
How I did it: With little budget and lots of time I decided to hitchike through Europe. My only goal was to explore as many beautiful places as possibe, ideally near the sea. And of course to have as much fun as possible :)
