Tried to get into a habit, but with the school run, not so easy. Getting a puncture on the way home after work on route to pick up the kids from After School doesn’t go down well with the wife. I limit it now to days when I’m not meant to be picking them up.

Have started cycling to work 5 days a week, so far I am enjoying it, good way to start the day.
Similar reasons as to wanting to walk more. I really enjoy cycling, it gives me a huge sense of freedom (probably left over from when I was a kid and my bike was my sole means of transport and independence.) The two main obstacles are 1) the weather and 2) safety. I don’t enjoy being cold, so January might not be the best time to start this one. It’s also about the road being wet or icy as I’m nervous about skidding – this happened a couple of years ago and I came off the bike and hurt my wrist. With the kids in the trailer on the back, it’s even more of a worry. But I need more exercise than I’m currently getting (umm… none at all) and cycling would be good for this. I also need to buy a helmet, clips and day-glo vest as these got stolen. And a new lock, evidently.
I love biking! It needs to be a priority!!! Right now it’s mostly time for the trainer. Every other day this winter. Up to 50 minutes now.

Cycle to work, cycle to my parents, cycle to my friends!
I’ve been riding a few times a week since I bought my bicycle. I figured out the seat was far too low, and since I adjusted it, it’s made things a lot easier. I use my bike whenever I need to go to the convenience store. Soon I should feel comfortable enough to ride to work. I’m going to add a goal about commuting by bicycle.
Over summer I decided to go out on a bike that I hired. I enjoyed it too. So I’m getting one for my birthday and hopefully I’ll put it to good use. I need to exercise more anyway.
I bought a bicycle today. It’s probably been over ten years since I rode one. The ride home was about an hour, including walking up several hills. It’ll take a while for me to get used to it. It didn’t help that I didn’t know how to use the gears. With the last bike I had, it had gears, but I don’t remember ever having to use them. I was starting to get the hang of it towards the end of my trip home, but I think I still need some practice.
I think I’ll practice riding around close by in the mornings for awhile before I attemt to start commuting on it.
I’m hoping I like it enough to get into racing. One of the Beijing gold medal winners first got on a racing bike when she was my age, which I found inspirational.
My bicycle, old and rusty, was stolen two months ago. I can’t imagine what anyone wanted with it and they didn’t touch M’s much nicer one next to it. Very strange.
Where I live is far too hilly for my taste in cycling, but I am really feeling the loss of the bike. I have a bit of savings so I am contemplating buying a new one, though the shop which re-conditioned bikes, on which I had an eye, has unfortunately closed down,.
I’ll keep a look-out.
I’d like to cycle in to work a few times a week. It might be a bit far, though. And I’m wondering how dangerous it might be to cycle around the city. I guess if I stuck to the side roads, it wouldn’t be too bad.
First, I need a good bicycle.
