How I learned martial arts 6 months ago

I started by finding a good martial arts instructor. I went to every class and worked very hard. There are lots of different types of martial arts, but I recommend Kung-Fu. It seems to be the oldest form out there and is the root of most Asian martial arts forms.
Here is a good site that tells you how to find a good martial arts instructor.

I took a Karate class with my father and LOVED it! The teacher was wonderful and skilled and I get to use so much of my excess energy that I just feel wonderful afterwards. I am also a deeply spiritual person. I think this combination of physical and mental will work wonders for me.

When I fly back home, I will find the right martial arts studio for me and will begin classes. My father has agreed to help fund it so long as I am doing well in college. crosses fingers The task begins!

That makes it harder for meeeeeeeee! ?.?
My papa did gung fu and my brother did karate but neither of them finished.(No this is not to fufill their legacy!) I was just inspired by a video game but then I got reall interested in the spiritual side of it so now I feel I can really devote myself but I’m broke.?
Ah well, come fall I might have some spare cash around._.

No, I did not grow up worshipping Bruce Lee and the wannnabe Bruce Lee’s he spawned. Neither did I harangue the neighbourhood video guy for every available dubbed Chinese/east-Asisn action movie during my adolescent years.

For me the interest in martial arts stems primarily from the way a person’s mind gets involved in it. Unlike many other exercise forms where both the means and ends are physically manifest, as far as I understand, in martial arts mental prowess is an essential pre-requisite. And over time, the physical gains get completely subsumed in the mental milestones one crosses.

Again, I may be wide off the mark in my generalization, but the percentage of martial arts practitioners who end up becoming criminals is nowhere close to the number of wrestlers who become criminals!

Oops! I guess I just offended a ‘powerful’ set of people. But am I scared? Not at all! After all how many wrestlers do you know of who read blogs?

:-D
