I don’t know if it was totally out of character, but we did pick a LOT of blackberries, which was fun, and certainly enjoyed eating them and freezing the leftovers….
I did something crazy on the 11th, which was go to a traveling fair and ride an unsafe, completely nauseating roller coaster.
I’m not doing that again ;)
...so with it’s passing, pass this unmet goal to the done pile.
Meirionwen is a word biographer
I did try to think of something to do, but I spent all day in the library with a grad student, editing a paper. I put in 10 hours, and was exhausted.
I’ll definitely try to do this next year, if I remember.
i don’t know if i did anything out of character as such, but there was fun. by midnight we were watching andy’s band play – the night included their otis redding cover of respect, dedicated to me; matt playing a killer set after only being in the band for four hours; lots of hugging and laughing; carrying drums out into the freezing cold night with headphones on and just generally being in love with everyone. staying up all night and spending an hour on the phone with my mom the next afternoon. grocery shopping and purchasing lovely things for the upcoming feast at a friend’s house. watching silly, silly movies and staying warm with the kitties. soaking it all in, which was ultimately the point for me.
I’ve ordered something exclusively for me via Internet… Not so much out of character, but really fun.
Made you think about the day and your activities.
It was better than Cats.
I’d see it again.
I woke up in the NotSo Hostel in Charleston, SC to find myself very much tangled in a boy-and-blanket bed burrito. I steamrolled, poked, and prodded Matt to get him to wake up. When he finally did get up I had a laugh at his expense (flowery boxers, black tube socks, dazed expression = haha.) and then we went to the hostel kitchen to make coffee and pancakes. We had spent the previous day engrossed in many of my favorite things (Rainbow Row, otters, small children, food) and the night prior had been spent with the other hostel folk & dog. I left the owners a love note and then Matt and I drove drove drove to Charlotte, NC, home of his huge family.
Part 2.
Matt is the oldest of seven kids. His two oldest brothers are going to Carolina next year and I love them lots. His next oldest brother is cuddly & angsty and I love him lots. His three baby sisters and brother are fun as all heck and yesterday they tore into the house screaming, jumped on me, and dragged me down to the basement where Polly Pocket was waiting for us. Lizzie had frozen some of her dolls in blocks of ice, so the game was that the second ice age had hit Pollyland because somebody had left their fridge door open. (Ain’t that always the way?)
Later, after all children were at church, Matt & I went out for sushi with his folks. I was still a little sore about the whole “cohabitation=conditional love for Matt and also hellfire” scenario, but judging from the death grip hug and awkward apology (he loves me, it seems!) afforded me by Matt’s dad, I’d guess they feel pretty bad about the whole thing. Can’t help but forgive them and move on.
Home in Chapel Hill, I cuddled my puppy and my Cassidy and watched Gray’s Anatomy and drank hot tea.
Sadly, I spent the last few hours of Feb. 12th lying on the bathroom floor, very much food poisoned, feeling like death. I think it was the salmon. I think I lost five pounds of inside-fluids. (ew. gross. blah. srry.)
Recap:
TOTALLY fun: pancakes, Charleston, children, Polly Pocket, cuddling.
out of character: hallucinations, head in toilet, anger towards inanimate objects, arrrgh.
fin!
...I ended up having to go to work after my rehearsal, which meant I was away from home and limited in my behaviour for 14 hours…What I did do was fun, but I didn’t complete my list.
1) Made brownies (with olive oil instead of butter since I didn’t have any) for my cast since it was the birthday of two of them
2) Ate whipped topping for breakfast (didn’t have any icecream)
3) Ate escargot for dinner

5) Flirted with a 65 year old Italian man IN ITALIAN!!
