I have more community college credits than I know what to do with…and yet…no degree. I have decided to try online classes so that I do not have to subject myself to classes with 18 year old frat guys and sorority girls.
How to take an online class
How I did it: I signed up for a php class through ed2go. I'm sure it's a great way of learning for people who have the time to dedicate to it. I was keeping up and enjoying it until the program we were using refused to work properly on my computer. It took 2 weeks to get the issue figured out (because I could only correspond with the teacher through the site's web board) and by then I was 4 lessons behind. I tried to catch up, but encountered another issue that I couldn't get past. As all of the lessons are built upon previous lessons, it became more of a hassle than it was worth. Especially for no credit.
Lessons & tips: Online courses are great if your schedule is busy and difficult to accomedate. Chose a program that will offer credit or skills that you're interested in.
