I was a columnist and copy editor for The Daily Orange (Syracuse University) back in the day. I made $80 a week and was just so proud to have a byline.
but got bit by the j-bug and ended up writing news, op-eds, and being the subject of a few stories. i found this to be a great way to get more plugged into the community at large. wouldn’t trade those expereinces for anything.

I penned a too long editorial column (1K words) each week for The Seattle University Spectator. I can’t recall anything more stressful in all my life.
Our paper was called the Mooring Mast, for reasons I cannot recall. I wrote for the A&E section and I also had an op-ed column, where I wrote on fascinating topics like Snow and How Stupid is California Disney Adventure?, which earned me an angry letter. I also wrote a little ode to the Slinky, which I am still proud of to this day.
