Until yesterday, I thought this was a long-term goal. But now I think it’s possible to do it within the year. Plus I plan to invest in a mountain condo that I can use and rent within 5 years, in addition to my primary home.

How I did it: Our first step in buying a house was to talk to a mortgage broker and get a pre-approval. A pre-approval lets home sellers know you are already approved to buy a house in a certain price range. Next you find a real estate agent. This agent should be working for you and not the seller. While the agent is looking to find you a house you should also be looking. Some of the houses that are listed on for sale sites like zillow.com and coldwell… Read how I did it…

I want to be a OWNER, I dont just want one house. I want to own homes and buildings and condos. I want to invest in property until they make me financially free. I plan to get my first building by the time I am 36. I have 4 year to go. I want to own something that will pay for itself. SO that is my goal.
It’s in my ten year plan. Of course… I’ll be flexible. ;)
I feel terrible throwing away all this money for rent each month. Hopefully as I settle myself after graduating and into a stable(er.. sort of stable at least?) job — I’ll be able to do something about this goal.
Although… I suppose there are plus’ that the landlord has to fix things and change the batteries in my smoke detector for me… hmm.
So I went ahead and did it before my intended timeline. I’d intended to hold off until my birthday to decide but the market was too appealing to wait. I’d been looking for a while intown and wasn’t overly satisfied by what I found, then finally came across my condo in historic Castleberry Hill which is very slowly transitioning into a livable neighborhood.
I sometimes have to deal with the occasional homeless neighbor and the eery quietness of the area after dark, but overall I’m really satisfied with my purchase. It’s spacious, new and most importantly, 5 minutes from work. Now if I could only figure out how to get the same type of space for under a million in Nyc…
You need to plan for this a year or more in advance. Pay bills off, get your credit in line, and then save like a mad man for the downpayment (or close your 401 like I did).
It is totally worth the hastle.
i want a home, something small and cozy with a great kitchen. i hate renting not only because it feels like money down the drain but also because you can invest in personalizing it without feeling like it’s a bit of a waste.
I live in Boston also. I want to say you go girl. I want to buy my house in 1 year, 3-4 bedroom condo with a backyard would be fine. You can do it, make sure you read everything. Everything that is promised make sure it is in writing. Those people are like carsalesman. remember they are your friend because they want to make a sale.
I know you will be so happy to say..yes this is mine. :)
I want to buy a house in the next two months. I am single, and want 4 bedrooms. One for me, one for a guest, one for my computers and work/office, and one for a hobby room.
