have happy children

Wow, I opened my 43things account 2 years ago and added this goal. At that particular time in my life there is no way I would ever have guessed that I would have a son at this point in my life. I am so happy and I love him beyond measure.
I hope he is happy. He’s only six weeks old and is beginning to use his smile muscles :) I will do anything for him. I can see how parents get carried away with spoiling their child. I’m already doing some of the things that I thought parents should put their foot down on. I hold him for about 85% of the day, I still have him in my room in a bassinet, and he has so many toys that he will probaby never even touch; but if I have it in my means to give him more than I had, then damn it, that’s what he will get.

I’m terrified of becoming my parents. They were horrible and now I’m dealing with the my childhood 15 years later. I never want my children to feel as neglected as I was and I want to hold on to their innocence as long as possible.
I don’t want my bad childhood to stop me from having children. Happy children.
