I had medicaid & a surgery planned for this Monday when I got a call saying my insurance was canceled since my miscarriage. Now I have to go through more paperwork to get financial help all over again! I really hate our economy b/c I know they can afford it.
How to get medical insurance
How I did it: I finally bit the bullet and signed up for the group healthcare policy at work. I'm glad because it means I'll actually be able to go to a doctor when I need to, but really pissed because it's so flipping expensive.

Medical care cost too much money to not have insurance & I have put it off for far too long. Please push me on this. It’s for my own good, haha!
It’s been five long years and my husband is finally able to get some health care assistance. He was laid off from his job around 5 yrs. ago, ending his medical coverage; and, his current employer does not offer any benefits. We’ve tried the medical discount programs but, as with normal insurance, they would not cover pre-existing conditions. Through much prayer though, and word-of-mouth, we happened on a county “health alliance” which is a group of doctors who offer primary medical care on a sliding scale. They also have contacts with drug companies and other health care agencies with which they work to acquire any specialized medical care and meds that you may need at an affordable cost.
We had to fill out a registration form, giving proof of income and were approved for their services on the spot.
I also have a brother-in-law that is HIV positive. He was unable to get health insurance to cover the $900 a month worth of life saving drugs to manage his T-cell count. Finally, he found a doctor that was able to refer him to a program through the health department that supplies his meds free of charge! So, don’t give up …help is possible.
It’s medicaid and it severely restricts who I can see but hey, it’s insurance and it takes a lot of worry away for me. Just wish I wasn’t poor enough to qualify! :oP
You can get coverage that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! The plan that I went with has a higher deductable but once you reach your deductable they cover everything. Shortly after I got it my hubby slipped and fell and thought he broke his wrist. The docter visit and emergency room x-rays were only $53. If we didn’t have insurance it would have been $500 which is 6 months worth of premium for 2 people.
or offers such low benefits as to negate any value. I don’t know what I’ll do, but I just can’t affort personal coverage. So there’s no point leaving this on my list.
JadedForever has a terrible migraine...
I finally have medical insurance again!!
Maybe I can finally catch up on my bills.
drove a long way to talk to an attorney. i think it went badly. nobody gives a damn about type 1 diabetics. we’re just way to expensive to keep alive i guess. he might be able to help me tho, so the whole thing wasn’t worthless…i’m going to SSI on monday.
were the result of a fall at home, I’d be out over $1,000. Still, what do you do when you have no income?
How long can I beat the odds? I need my checkup and some tests and I have a sinus infection. Let’s see, if I could afford those things I could afford insurance. As it is I will pretend all is well.
