Tonight we had a hot date at Chili’s and I ordered a steak…rare. I usually order my steaks this way, wanting them to be that amazing balance of hot on the outside, yet nearly cold on the inside, but don’t expect any better than medium rare. It’s not Ruth Chris’ or anything! But tonight, I got a perfectly cooked rare sirloin steak from the Chili’s kitchen, and I fawned over it. I begged the server to please, please let the chef know that he’d done an amazing job. Well, I don’t know how it went with the chef, but the server was very cheerful and happy after I complimented the service. I guess they probably don’t hear the positive that much, you know? I worked at many restaurants, and seldom heard positive feedback. You basically knew that if you heard nothing, it was all right. More of us should do this! It’s just nice, first of all, and it balances out all the negativity and criticism. Go for it!
