"London & Paris were AMAZING!"

How I did it: First, I decided where I wanted to go in Europe.  Then I made the logistics and figured out when I wanted to leave and how long to say in each place.  After that, decide how to get from point A to point B.  Then have a little knowledge of the different languages such as French if you go to Paris.  I also went with my brother who knew the ropes of Europe since he had been there several times.  Having someone who knows what is going on really helps--it is a good resource to have.  Also have a good idea of how to get around in each location and know where you want to site see.  After there, just enjoy Europe!  London & Paris were fabulous.

Lessons & tips: Look around for different flight prices.  Do not buy the first ones you see unless you are strapped for time.  We waited a bit and ended up getting a one-way ticket from the US to London for only $200 (we moved there after we backpacked so the one-way tickets worked well for us and were super cheap)!  And just do some research.  Actually know the sites you want to see and kind of have a plan.  Just know that it is OK if things don't go your way and/or you don't get to see everything.  Just take your time and ENJOY it rather than go from one attraction to the next just to see everything.  

Resources: Internet and books on certain cities from the public library aka FREE sources.  I also had my brother with me who was familiar with Europe.  Having a map was ALWAYS helpful.  As my brother would say, NEVER buy a map.  There's always free maps given out by some organization in that city.

    This is something I want to do with my boyfriend. I’ve been to Europe before, but not via backpacking. I think we’ll start off with a low budget road trip down the West coast first though, once we get financially able to do so.

    I’ve given my boyfriend a timeline so he’ll be prepared. I told him that I will give him 3 years. That will give me enough time to finish school and spend the rest of that last year saving and it will give him enough time to prepare mentally and get his career set on autopilot for a while. And then, no matter if he’s ready to go with me or not, I’m going. I’m going for 3 months and I’m going to see everything!
