there are so many movies (thankfully not Shayamalan films!) which put every detail into the trailer for films.
Honestly, there isn’t any point of GOING if I ALREADY KNOW what is going to happen. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t take a genius to ‘get’ many of these plots.
Sometimes, its so bad that the bloody POSTER gave away the farm. Most noteably, “Burden of Proof” which really irritated my PractiseHusband & his Posse. I loved the movie, but the poster was a give-away. The plot was detailed enough that I doubted my guess during the film.
But lately, the TRAILER does it for us.
Give us SOMETHING to surprise us.
Unfortunately, so many people think that KNOWING what they are going to watch is the important criteria for selecting a film.
I have a few artists I trust to deliver. I try to avoid film trailers like the plague.
The Hostage is a GREAT film, but the trailer gives away the whole farm. its sooo much cooler if you get the general gist (Action film, Bruce Willis, jaded Hostage Negotiator gets a shocking thriller case in a rich manion. PERIOD. DONE.)
You can almost always trust Willis to pick a good director & script. Its gotten to the point that there are FEW films I’ll bother seeing in cinema unless I can trust the:
-DIRECTOR
-PRINICPALS
-AUTHOR.
That’s about the only criteria I use now.
No reviews, no trailers.
