meet Nelson Mandela

Like I said, this list is not necessarily in order and this is something I’ve wanted to do for YEARS and it just came to me as I’m typing this that this has been on my mind’s list for as long as I can remember. To be able to meet living history, to not just talk to him but be in his presence would be enough for me. If I did nothing but this on my list, I could die in peace, having fulfilled one of my greatest dreams. No interviews, no endorsements, no elaborate questions, no public spectacle of the meeting. To give this truly gentle man a hug and be on my way is enough.

Nelson Mandela is a badass.

Mr Mandela is the person i wanted to meet beacause he is a good man, and I want to learn from him

I think it’s important to meet people that have greatly influenced this planet and the citizens that call it home. Nelson Mandela is one of those people.

I am a young south african that just came back from one year in the US, everyone kept asking me about nelson mandela and if I have ever met him, unfortunately I had to say… NO, I haven’t and he is such a great man!!

how can I meet him?

this is my passion. i was an african studies minor in college. i have been to tanzania and it changed my life. after going there i continued to study and really narrowed my focus on south african history and politics. my heart is in a place i have never been and i have been captured by a man loved by the world. i will make this dream come true by hearing him speak. i saw the other groups for hearing him speak, but i decided that i’d like to consider that meeting him. that is settling, but to me it would be as much of an honor because i wouldn’t want to do any of the talking anyway. i could listen to him say the alphabet and i’d be happy. if any of you know of appearances in the US anytime in the next few years (just as a way to make sure i have time to plan and get it accomplished) this is one of my biggest goals and i want it to happen. otherwise when i make it to south africa i will not only trace his footsteps, but i will hear him speak in his homeland.

I’m 13 and i’m fascinated by Nelson Mandela, i have read so much about him and i think he’s one of the greatest people to ever be born. forget movie stars and sports stars, this IS a real STAR. Nelson Mandela has inspired me to promote peace and i try to contribute by raising awareness about peace at school!

and ask him where he found the courage to endure those years in prison? His spirit… astounds me!!!

I am reading his autobiography right now and wow he is such an amazing man!
