Forget about it! 20 months ago

I’ve come to a conclusion. Most of the books on my to-read list are books I think I should read, not necessarily books I want to read. I don’t really like reading enough to warrant this much of an effort. So I’m giving up this goal and focusing my energies on whatever book I feel like reading at the moment.

I just redid my list, and it turns out that I have well over 200 works on it. This is definitely going to be a long term project.

I’ve read a few of them. Currently reading one on the list (‘Perfume’ by Patrick Suskind). The rest of the list on on my goodreads.com account.

    Update 22 months ago

Okay, finished first three parts of my mini-goals, but I’m mixing up the list from here on. I’m going to skip Nietzche until I have the time to give it the attention it deserves. For now, I’m going to focus on finishing the second and third parts of the Illuminatus! trilogy, and then I’m going to start my Top 100 Novels Ever goal.

A Place to Start 2 years ago

Considering my To-Read list is about forty titles long and constantly expanding (and that’s just the written list), I need to give myself a mini-goal to start off. Given the books I received for Christmas, this is what I plan on reading first.

    1. All the literature that teacher gave me about philosophy, global warming, and Catholicism.

    2. The Gun Seller by Hugh Laurie

    3. The Illuminatus! trilogy (damn that looks a lot longer now that it’s in my bookshelf)

    4. Nietzsche, the selection of works I got years ago

    5. The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

That should at least give me a place to start. I’m going to try to go in order because I like lists and such, and I think the division of fiction vs. nonfiction will help me out too.
