learn to spin poi

Today my Zuni poi arrived and I am off on an adventure of learning to spin.

to get the one ring fixed so i can get to this…. I am hoping to get back at it VERY soon!

is coming up next week… She knows how to spin poi and had ofered to teach me while she was still living here. I am thinking if I can locate poi… fix poi… then maybe I can get her to take some time with me next week while she is visiting for reading break….hhhmmmmm

been so busy that I haven’t even given any thought to it:( I don’t even know where my poi is..lol lame

I saw this on YouTube within the last year. It looks beautiful. It reminds me of Sufic Dance. Very entrancing to watch. I’ve heard that it is really good for your upper body and arm/ hand strength as well. Someday, maybe I’ll be able to do this with LED lights, and entertain my kids.

Dare busted one of the strings of my poi and I have to fix the clasp and because I haven’t gotton around to doing that I haven’t gotton around to praticing. I will have to just harrass him and Make him do it being he was the one who buggered it in the first place! :)

I had moved this far down my priority list, but since I’ve been bellydancing, it’s been moved up again. I started wanting to spin poi when I went to a solstice festival and saw these two bellydancers who incorporated fire poi into their dance. It was AWSOME in the true sense of the word.

well the gal who moved in for the summer isn’t here anymore, she found that the work wasn’t quite what she thought and it was just too taxing.. that and being in a strange place around strange people probably didn’t help. I enjoyed having her around for the two weeks, but unfortunately we didn’t have the time for her to help me learn the poi:( aahhh well, I guess I will just continue trying to learn on my own!

We just had a friend move in with us for the summer and guess what?! She knows how to spin the poi!!!!! YAY! She was int eh circus for six years and can also stilt walk, juggle and do a ton of arobatic stuff;) she says she’ll teach me;) WOOHOO!

My Poi arrived a couple weeks ago and I am loving them! Much more difficult than I thought but I am hoping that I will be able to practise to get good enough to be able to have fire poi:) right now I just have the LED poi, which is fine by me or I definately would have been on fire several times in the last 2 weeks;)
