DoubleN is working on selling the house
Session Three

was last night, and it went fine. But I don’t know if I’ll return any time in the near future. Things are going well enough, I guess, and I’m not 100% sure I want to spill everything to her the way I would if I lived in a huge area like NYC or Chicago.
I’ll mark this as done for now, and maybe some day I’ll return to her.

Session Two

was last night, and it went really well. This counselor seems to be the perfect blend of a great listening ear and good advice dispensed in a very empathetic and clear manner. Her power was off too, so I’m glad she didn’t cancel, since I’d had to wait nearly 3 weeks for an after-hours appt.
Now I need to find a good time to sit down with my hubby and talk some of this over. Last night after the appt. certainly wasn’t it – he and a couple of friends were at one of the most expensive restaurants in town, and I’ll bet I can guess who picked up the tab.
But when I took the girls out to a little pub (we were trying to avoid opening the fridge and letting out the cold, and had no way to cook with the power outage) we had a great time and they actually brooched the subject of their job searches and training, which is one of the main things we need to address. Hopefully we can begin making some progress on the kid front before addressing some of the other baggage.

she’d had an evening opening sooner – the 21st is my next appt. or that I got a couple of afternoons off every week, like a co-worker does …

went well, though we only had time for me to give her a little background. 1 hour is nowhere near enough time for even that! I’ll be going back in the next week or two.

I made a July 3 appt. with the one my friend recommended. Fingers crossed that this works out well and helps.

DoubleN is working on selling the house
at lunch with a friend, she passed along the name of her former counselor that I asked her for a few days ago. When she gave me the info, I was pleasantly surprised that this doctor is less than a mile from my house and is actually a PhD, so if I need her to prescribe Ambien or something, she could do it. I think I’ll call for an appt. tomorrow. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she’s accepting new patients …

asked 2 people for recommendations, but haven’t heard back from either one yet. If they’re going to make any headway at all in straightening out my messed-up ass, they’ll have to be a great counselor! :)

So after my first appointment…and maybe even my second, I wasn’t convinced she was the right match. She said a couple things that resonated though, and I know I need this, so I made a third appointment. I’m so glad I did, she’s definitely the one.

had a bit of a rough start. As in, I was running late, had the wrong address, was even more late. So…that could have been better. But once I was finally there, with all the paperwork filled out, it got MUCH better. Seriously, just dumping everything out in a brain-drain like that makes a big difference. We mainly talked about my job, friends, etc. It also doesn’t hurt to have someone validate my feelings of instability and uncertainty about…everything. She asked if I would like to have another appointment with her, I could only laugh. I said, “We haven’t even started on boys or food!
I have another appointment next week…
