This has long been a goal of mine but I didn’t pursue it for many reasons.
1. I thought it impossible
2. I was not willing to learn what it took
3. I had a lot of bad advice on how to achieve my goal
What It Takes
Now, I am so close I can taste it. I have been up and down in weight and body fat. I was close to 40% body fat at one point and I am now down to 12%. I persevered, learn and made changes to my DIET!
The Secret To Success
Diet is the important thing when trying to achieve a fitness goal. Too many people start with the exercise. I learned the hard way, you cannot outeat a bad diet.
What Is Good Eating
I can tell you all the conventional, high carb – low fat mantra is garbage. I tried that and my weight either yo-yo’ed or worse increased. Specifically, my body fat increased, which is the exact opposite of the desired effect.
Key To My Success
I monitor only two things. First, what I don’t monitor. Calories! Yes I know about what my caloric intake is over a given day or week but I don’t stick to the “calorie” number.
I limit my carbohydrates to less than 50 grams per day and I try to eat at least 200 grams of protein per day. That’s it. I eat all the fat I want. In fact, in a given day 55% to 70% of my calories are from fat.
I eat bacon and eggs daily and have lost 30 pounds since making this switch, eliminated my sleep and lethargy problems and super boosted my sex life.
My goal is 8.5% body fat which equates to between 213 and 218 pounds. Why the range? I would weigh 213 at 8.5% body fat at my current lean body mass of 195 pounds.
I am increasing my lean body mass to 200 pounds (a subgoal). At 200 pounds of lean body mass with 8.5% body fat I would weight 218.
I currently am 221 at 12% so I am very close. I am really enjoying the journey and all the bennies. I can’t wait for the next post. Maybe when I hit 10%. 3 years ago
