i ended up getting a flip video camera.
it’s cheap, shoots well enough, compatible with my macs, and it’s easy to use.
it will work just fine for what i need it to do.

i want to be able to film my family and friends…
and i want to film my moving trip/adventure.
My friends and I are going on a cruise in August. I have about 4-5 months to save up money and look around. I want a digital video camera to bring along with me. So it needs to be easy to take around, but I want quality as well because after this cruise, I would like to use it to make the short video movies/commercials my friends and I make for our youth group (currently, we’re using my friend’s dad’s video camera, and I don’t want to inconvenience him anymore). I don’t need it to take still photographs, but I want to be able to edit footage on my computer. My limit’s $1,000.
Please, anyone have any suggestions? Tips on what to look for when choosing a video camera is also very much appreciated. Thank you!
I’ve wanted a digital camera for a long time. Recently, however, I’ve become much more interested in shooting video. Now that storage cost is coming down, and bandwidth is getting cheeper, and everyone and their grandmother has a video blog, I feel like it will be a good investment.
Someday, I would love to own a Canon XL2 someday, but until then, my camera of choice is a Sanyo VPC-C6

My finish my basement project went way over on money, so I haven’t had the cash to purchase the camera. I’m finally getting my budget back under control, however; it looks like I’ll be back in the market for a camera in early November.
I’m looking around for a used Canon GL1. I’ve done some research and it looks like it will do what I want, which is to shoot some digital video for my short film project. I was originally interested in the Canon XL1, but even used they are pretty expensive.
There’s so much you can do with a digital video camera. Do your research though. There are some cameras that will fall apart after a month just because, probably. Anyway, I would go with JVC, Canon, Sony, Panasonic, and those are probably the only four I’d go with, in that order. I myself own a JVC GY-DV5000, it’s pretty nice, and I got it to shoot movies and such. If you just want a camera to videotape stuff, don’t get the one I got, because it is big and bulky. All in all, the thing about a digital camera is the CCD, some have one and some have three. The more CCDs you got, the better. Also, make sure you have a firewire on your computer so you can put your videos on your computer and stuff. I’m not a master, but I know a thing or two. Lastly, if you don’t know anything about what I am talking about, google it, make sure to include something like camcorder or Digital Video Camera in your google search. Good Luck.
i think 2-3 months of salary will give me a bulk of its price (i think)... oh i really want to get one!
I was poking around on cooltools and ran across this post about the Lumix FZ5. I think this will probably be my next digital camera.
