After a little web research, I ordered a self-inking stamp from http://www.stamp-connection.com/collection/wheres_george_rubber_stamps.html
I choose simple, one-line message in red ink. It fits the margins of any bill (avoid defacement). Red is to help it stand out against the green bill, but I only achieve the average hit rate (a little over ten percent). It typically takes about a year to get a hit on one of my bills.

I’ve been a member of wheresgeorge for a few years. I usually stamp my bills in spurts, I will go a few weeks and stamp a thousand dollars, and then six months a do nothing, it is pretty good fun.

Someone posted about Where’s George on a forum I frequent, and I decided I wanted to do it. It looks like fun! I’d like to see where my bills go. :o)

This is definitely an odd hobby, but I’m fascinated by it.
(In case you haven’t heard of “Where’s George,” check it out here: http://www.wheresgeorge.com Currency tracking, as in, “Where has this George Washington portrait been, and where is it going.)
Odd. But fun.

two $1 bills with a “where’s george” stamp came my way, and I registered them on the site. One was from Hawaii, the other from Cerrito, CA. Now I want to play, too!

I ordered one last year and have been very happy with it. I don’t stamp bills that often, but it makes it so much easier to do it and saves having to write the url on the bills. I should stamp some more bills this week.

And the stamp makes it quick and easy to do it!

I’ve entered 16 bills, and have had 1 hit on 2, and 2 hits on 1. I’m pretty pleased. I’d like to buy stamp and then I could play this game more often and maybe have better luck? stamps seem to range from 5-20 dollars depending on inking mechanisms and that sort of thing.
