How I did it: I actually volunteered and took the 2 weeks of training in the evenings to learn to deal with feeling shyish when the center of attention. I wanted to go to colleged and feared having to make presentations to ther class and such. The crisiss line was in the building my daughter went to day care. THe evening of her first birthday was the first evening class.

There were 12 or 15 of us. and each day we worked through what we would be doing on the line but also looked into our own personal issues as they would likely come up in our dealings with others.

Because of my age at the time I volunteered on the crisis line and on the teen crisis line. I dealt with all kinds of issues and had several suicide calls. It was tough but in the end I felt right about the time I spent there. And I had way greater confidence in dealing with people in all kinds of settings.

oh and the teens got to meet some guy from a tv show called neon rider.

    Well my name is Courtney and I’ve always liked helping people. I have had many friends who have either thought about suicide or decided to cut. I have helped some of them through it and get over it. Now i want to help other people, not just the ones I know.

    So Im suppose to write a blog? Not sure what exzactly what I’m suppose to writting so Im just going to wig it. Okay My name is Domonique im sixteen years old. Im am a dedicated christian and i would love to help others to know there lifes are well worth living I know i am young however Jerimiah 1:7 basically says dnt let anyone tell you you cant do somthing because of your age i believe i am well mature enough to help others….well thats all i know what to say for now!!!

    I’ve been thinking a lot about giving recently; the giving of time, money, assistance, support, care. I REALLY want to give of myself. I already give money to the two colleges that have supported me through the years. I plan to give money to the NVA before the month is out. I would really like to give some of my time and volunteer at a suicide prevention help or crisis line, but the ones in my area require at least one overnight shift per month of each volunteer. I’m not sure I can commit to that. Hell, I’m not even sure I can commit to the one morning/afternoon/evening per week that’s required. I’m going to seriously examine my schedule and see if it would be possible to work it in right now. I want to do this so bad.
