I made it to blue belt, but had to drop out a few months ago because of money problems. This will only be temporary. I really want to join back and start feeling good again. I noticed that I felt better when i was training.

How to become a black belt in taekwondo"I had never been more fit in all my life..."
How I did it: I started taekwondo in my early 20s and became quite good at it. I began training more and more and before I got my black belt, I was training six times a week. I also became part of the demonstration team as I was good at forms and trained even harder. Hanging in for three years takes a lot of commitment and the hardest time was right before black belt. Sometimes I felt that I was hanging on by the skin of my teeth! You definitely feel drained, but if you keep focusing on your end goal you'll achieve it. I ended up getting my second degree black belt before I tore my ACL in class one day and had to get an operation. My life moved quite quickly after that and I've moved countries. I'm currently working on getting my black belt in MMA.
Lessons & tips: Your body goes through a lot of wear and tear. Take care of your knees especially. I used to wear a brace during class. My knees did not get worn down the way many women martial artists do (of course I had to snap it doing flying sidekicks instead). Resources: |

How I did it: I was 14 When I joined up and 16 when I tested for my black belt. How is this possible? Most students at the time were averaging 3 to 4 years of consistent training to get their black belt. Well, I trained 6 days a week - coming to every class. I had no life outside of Tae Kwon Do. We had to have 24 hours of training between each belt as I remember, and so I tested every month until I became closer to black b… Read how I did it…
How I did it: The first time, it took 3 years and I got to high red belt, but had to stop because of back pain issues. Because I'd moved in the meantime, I started training at a different gym.The second time was harder, because I had been exposed to 99% of the material. The curriculum was strikingly similar to the previous gym, but there were subtle nuances that continue to trip me up. The time from high red belt to black belt was interesting. I never … Read how I did it…

How I did it: to achieve this goal, i committed a minimum of 2 nights a week at training. i also worked out a little bit at home occasionally. it is important to only 'grade' when you are ready, and not rush into it. becoming a blackbelt in any martial art is not just receiving a "black belt" to wear. it should also come down to discipline with yourself. if the only reason you are doing the sport is to become a blackbelt and have that label, then you a… Read how I did it…

I’ve always been interested in Taekwondo, and I just started training this past January. Although I’m just a beginner, I’m training hard and trying to learn as much as I can. I’m currently a green belt (7th gup), and I LOVE it! I hope I can keep up with my training (currently 8 hours / week), and one day I’ll be a proud black belt.
teahna waiting for christmas!
I am only a few months away from completing this! I have my brown belt black stripe! My aim is to get black belt before I start my final year of school. Looks like it will be happening too! :)

ever so slowly I am creeping up the ladder to start the process all over again.
:o)
You do not start learning until you reach black belt. It is the true white belt. All levels before that are simply to prepare you for real learning.
I want to start learning.
I am ready.
At least I think so?

The test was on Saturday and i was running on high adrenaline. My shoulders still hurt as they must have been so tense throughout the hour. But, I am pretty sure I passed. We were testing at 1.00 p.m. and I had gotten up early and jsut practiced practiced practiced my form. In fact, i do not even remember how I did it on the test as it was so automatic. anyway- onwards and forwards. going to class tonight.
